Won't take fuel

Have a 2016 3500 duramax on a long trip 3 times does not take fuel never had this problem before, can only put in about 3 gallon per minute
  • I had problems filling my tank took forever cause the nozzle kept shutting off no mater how I held the pump handle I could put gas in one squirt at a time I experienced this at 2 gas stations. The gas stations I normally use near my house are okay except I need to lift the handle up otherwise I can pump at full speed. So for me its a pump dependent issue to me the tub from the gas cap to the tank seems awfully narrow about 1", must be part of the issue.
  • ^ I had an 08 Silverado for a while last year that would not take gas unless you turned the nozzle upside down. Annoying as _______considering I was filling it up every other day. Nothing was kinked. Idk wha the problem was, but it's someone else's now!
  • My 2013 F350 (gas) does that. I have to pull the nozzle almost half way out of the opening and then lower the handle so the nozzle is almost horizontal to the ground. If I do that, it fills it up full speed.

I guess what I'm asking is have you tried various angles of the diesel nozzle?

OR....what happens if you try to pump faster ??
What happens if you pull the nozzle out an inch or so and then speed up the delivery ??

Gas stations generally do a TERRIBLE job of maintaining their delivery nozzles. I've even found a few that would trip regardless of what you did. I report them to the "desk" and move to a different pump.

Are you using one of the super high volume truck pumps? It may not be able to accept fuel that quickly. Try the first or second click to see if it keeps flowing.
I like those pumps. I can fill my tank in about 45 seconds!

X2 ^^. Using the truck lanes, I've had to back off the fill rates a number of times to keep the pump sensor from shutting off.
