I am looking at a bunk house somewhere in the 27' foot range, from what I can tell that doesn't get me a couch. Anyone have any thoughts on brands? I am looking at a Coachmen Freedom Express 257BHS or a Keystone Grand Touring 2400BH. Thoughts on these 2 or anything else I should look at? What about buying out of state? Good or bad idea? My local dealer tells he won't cover any warranty unless its bought at his dealer. That seems odd to me? But in the next breath how much is the dealer actually needed for repairs? I am really handy so I would fix most of the stuff I don't want to get hung on a big appliance though. Saving a couple grand could make it worthwhile. Thanks for any thoughts or help!2006 Aerolite cub 195I have a question for all the Hybrid peeps. I am considering downsizing to a smaller camper from my 30' TT and I have a friend of mine that wants to sell his 2006 Aerolite cub 195. I am somewhat interested in it and I am curious on any thought on this brand, any one not like it, issues that it has had, and just downsizing to a HTT in general. Thanks for any comments or thoughts!Entertainment Center ModWhen we bought this camper it had a entertainment center for the much deeper tube TV. No sooner did my wife see this she had the idea of putting doors on it and making it a much more friendly food pantry. So I went to work and you can scroll through pics from start to finish to see the results. I am pleased with how it came out. I have about 80 bucks in the project. This is how it started. The un finished board you see is my homemade TV bracket. Just a wood cleat. This gives you idea on how deep it is. I am bad about taking during pics but this is the frames built before I added the backer. And unfortunately the only during pic I took. Here is the shelf I added. You can stand 2 cans up on the bottom and big boxes of cereal and chips on top. This shows how the stain matched the oak shelf better then the pine doors. Here is the finished project with the TV bracket now stained. The stain is not a perfect match but it is close A closer look. It will annoy me that 2 doors don't line up perfect but it's to difficult to try and fix it. I call it character now. Both doors open. The finished pic with the TV hanging where it will go.Re: Do you carry extra fuel 2oldman wrote: Lokin4deer wrote: Except for the fact my wife missed the exit inadvertently so we drove on past it and didn't realize it.....I would have paid a premium to have an extra 50 miles of fuel. There was a State patrol at the second station and he told me the next exit had a truck stop and was open 24 hours and was 20 miles away. Sounds like you need a GPS and maybe a smart phone too. No one is saying you'll "never" need 5 gallons of fuel, but that story is not likely to happen again any time soon. Driving at night does have its challenges, so in the future you may want to be better prepared for finding fuel. And even if you install a 50 gallon auxiliary tank, there will still be reasons to plan if you do late-night driving. Actually her smart phone has GPS and we were using that for the trip its self but she was using the Walmart app to find the nearest Walmart and that is how we missed it.Re: Do you carry extra fuelI will give my specific scenario if it helps understand where i am coming from. I get 11 mpg pulling my camper with my 34 gallon tank I can go 350 miles or so and I can drive long distances without much issue. We travel a lot at night the kids sleep and my wife and I have some talking time. My wife had picked us out a Walmart to stop at 100 miles or so away. I had at least 150 miles till I was empty so I knew we were good. As we got closer she called to talk to the manager to get permission after talking to manager it was determined that they were 10 miles off the highway and that there another walmart 15 or so miles down the road that was right on the highway. I still thought we are good on fuel. Except for the fact my wife missed the exit inadvertently so we drove on past it and didn't realize it. Like I said in op the best laid plans. Now I am really concerned we finally see an exit with fuel. 2 stations both have diesel both are closed. It's after 1 in the morning. There was a State patrol at the second station and he told me the next exit had a truck stop and was open 24 hours and was 20 miles away. So I hit the highway drove very fuel efficient or as fuel efficient as you can be dragging 8000 lbs behind you. I made it and breathed a huge sigh of relief. So yes 5 gallons isn't as good as 100 gallon auxiliary tank but that night I would have paid a premium to have an extra 50 miles of fuel. I appreciate all the feed back hopefully this helps with my scenario.Re: Running a generatorRoybell I like the box! Is the genny exhaust right next to your attic fan or are you just venting the box it self. I am thinking if I did something like that I could pipe the attic fan air out of my truck and to the ground. That is a great idea you have! Thanks for posting pics!Do you carry extra fuelWe do a lot of driving at over night and on our trip last year I almost ran out of diesel because a couple of gas station were closed and the ones that were open didn't have diesel. I try to plan our stops were I can get diesel but we all know how plans sometimes go. So that got me thinking about have 5 gallons of diesel in can in the back of my truck secured obviously but along for the ride in case it is needed. Anyone else do this?St Louis to Gulf ShoresThis topic has been moved to another forum.
