As for the title a copy is no big thing but no one needs it to check for liens. Running the vin will tell them everything they need to know. We deal with insurance companys a lot and I can say I agree about this company can be a pain in the butt. I'm hoping for 25,000 pr 26,000. Yes, I will never use National General again. They aren't willing to work with me at all. They refuse to use good comparables I find, like the exact same rig only one year older than mine and insist on using larger, newer, rigs so their computer can reduce the value however they want.Re: Total loss, adjuster wants copy of title prior to settlementIt is my insurance company, National General. I can NOT recommend them, after this experience. As I said, I am now going to deal directly with the at fault driver's insurance company. The NADA retail value is 22,000 to $26,000, so they are within that range at $23,000 offer. For a one year old vehicle that hasn't been used much I feel they are lowballing me, particularly as neither they nor I can seem to find a used 2015 Heartland Sundance 245 xlt for comparison. Instead, they are using larger heartlands and reducing the value, it seems to me, arbitrarily.Re: Total loss, adjuster wants copy of title prior to settlementHe wants it BEFORE we settle.Total loss, adjuster wants copy of title prior to settlementStill hashing out settlement with adjuster, who will not budge. I'm going to call the at fault driver's ins. Company today and start working with them. However, the current adjuster asked for a copy of the title, so the rig " doesn't go anywhere" while we continue to settle this. Any idea why he wants it? Just curious, I'm not giving him the copy, but why does he want it? He's not forthcoming with formation. ThanksRe: Totaled my fifth wheel, how to work with insurance adjusterAnd actually my lawyer said he'd get back all costs, including deductibles if necessary, so I guess that's not an issue.Re: Totaled my fifth wheel, how to work with insurance adjusterCash price was $29,053 when we bought it.Re: Totaled my fifth wheel, how to work with insurance adjusterThe last offer was $23,072 less $500 deductible. From what you are saying I don't trust them to get me back the deductible. I also don't remember what the MSRP was, but it was a 2015 Heartland Sundance, and we added a battery. Do you think this is a fair offer? Can I at this point go to his insurance company with this quote or a better one if he comes up with one and ask the other drivers insurance company to pay it, thereby getting around the deductible?Re: Totaled my fifth wheel, how to work with insurance adjusterYes, I'm near Albuquerque. There's no debate the other driver was at fault, apparently there were lots of witnesses. We were knocked out and don't remember anything about the accident, woke up in the hospital. I was told we could go through our insurance and they would turn around and get reimbursed by his insurance company. I thought our company would be more sympathetic to us, apparently not. I'm going to start negotiating with his company.Re: Totaled my fifth wheel, how to work with insurance adjuster Earl E wrote: When they are at fault, they must pay you the full equivalent of replacing your truck and trailer. When I had a similar incident and they could not find comps they were forced to actually pay for what would be a newer model. I talked to my agent who advised me to NOT file a claim with my insurance but to insist on full and complete reimbursement from the other insurance company. Ah, but there is the rub, who determines "full equivalent"? NADA says my rv, which was a 2015 Heartland Sundance 245 xlt, is worth $22,000 to $26,000. I, of course, think it is worth $26,000, the insurance company disagrees, and uses 2016 Sundance 267 ads, reducing the value by what they claim is fair, to $23,000. The process seems rather arbitrary to me. So, I'm currently scouring the Internet for similar rigs as comps that are advertised at a higher price. Don't they have to use comps that I find?
