Oh, and for anyone who's interested, if we'd had called 911 and told the police we needed a tow, like the person from GSRA suggested we do, the police would have had our unit towed to the impound lot and we would have had to pay a hefty price to have gotten it out of there plus a second tow that GSRA would have not paid for.Re: Tell Me Why...Thank you, Sfla2. Received a private message. All I get is the profile of an administrator that is not online and under name it says N/A. Okay....Re: Reluctant FT'ingOur house will be on the market shortly and I'm looking forward to it selling and living in the motorhome. Love our 21 acres and the house, but it's too much anymore. We lived in our motorhome for just two months last winter, in a warmer climate, and it was "home". Loved almost every minute of it. Hope you enjoy it yourselves.Re: A different type of RVingThanks for sharing! Sounds like lots of fun doing something you enjoy.Re: something different or maybe i'm oldYes, I rode hands free sometimes, but my eyes were on the road, too. Riding backwards on the handlebars while peddling? I wasn't that dense!Re: Tell Me Why...To the one remark, we do take care of our vehicles. The truck had been running very well with no battery problems. The battery was fairly new. It has been running quite well ever since. Nothing was left on. Some times there is no prior notice. Three calls in two or three years? I didn't think that was using the service too much. And besides, if you're paying for a service, you should be able to use it when necessary, otherwise, why have it? Smoking tire two years ago was a caliper (or however you spell it) that locked up. We had it replaced and checked the others. Everything was checked not that long ago. We didn't any indication there was a problem this time until it happened. Haven't been notified what the problem is this time by Edmundson RV and the estimate yet so don't know if it was our fault or not. Guess we're terribly, terribly negligent. Husband has cancer pretty bad. Guess I need to find someone to give this 70 year old lady lessons so she can try to crawl under it, pinpoint a problem before there is any indication of them and fix it herself. No, we, like many other people, rely on when we take it to an RV shop to have it checked out. Now, if you're free to do free inspections every couple of weeks, you will be welcome. Regardless, this is about not getting a service we've paid for. It doesn't make any difference whether we never use it, use it once a year or whatever, we are not abusing it.Tell Me Why...Yes, tell me why I shouldn't cancel my GS Platinum Roadside Service. A couple of years ago we had an emergency with a tire smoking heavily. Luckily we were in front of Pecan Point RV Park when we noticed it and were able to pull in. Husband called GS Roadside Service and they said they would get back with us, I believe in half an hour. After an hour or so, called back and guess what. They had no record of us ever calling. It seems the guy who took the call didn't bother to pass on that we were stranded and left work. We had to stay overnight before anyone got out to take care of the problem. About a week or so ago, husband had been hiking in the middle of a state park. When he got back to the truck, it wouldn't start due to a dead battery. He called GS Roadside Service and was told they would contact someone. Yes, a good time later, we got a call from someone saying they would be coming to give a jump. I can't remember where they were located, but I know there are tow services much, much closer. Anyway, the man called back and said he would be coming, but his wife had some shopping she had to do first. What! After two hours with no one there, somehow someone happened upon the remote area my husband was in and was able to give him a jump. The two company still wasn't there. Last night my husband headed out to an RV repair shop down on the Indiana/Kentucky line to have the Hydra-Hot in our unit serviced. He was between Edinburg, In and Columbus, In when he started smelling smoke. Luckily, he was near a rest area and pulled in. One tire very, very hot and smoking and another pretty warm. I believe this was around nine or ten in the evening. Call our trusty GSRS. No call back as was told so husband called them back. Gee, no one had any record of his call. In fact, I think they said their computers went down and they didn't even have any record of our account. Nope, by eleven they couldn't find a towing service to help us. Their suggestions were that he make his own arrangements or call 911 and the police would get it towed for us then we could send the bill into GSRS and they would take into consideration paying it. They then said they would call back in the morning after they found someone and give the husband about an hour's notice before they got there. Guess what, I called husband a little before noon and he said he did get a call telling him someone should be there around two in the afternoon. Now tell me why to keep GSRS? If I'm stranded, I'm supposed to make my own arrangements or call 911 and expect the police to arrange for towing, then send the bill to GSRS and they will take it under consideration it. I think not! That's what we're paying GSRS to do. It's 2 p.m. and no word on whether a tow vehicle has gotten there. Thank God he wasn't stranded on the side of the highway where a vehicle could have sideswiped him or in a really bad area. I think we're looking for another roadside service.Re: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosAfter all this time and all the posts, I hate to see this thread go down the drain. Would dearly love to see this get to 5,000 eventually or become a sticky. Anyway, this has probably been mentioned before, but I'm going to resurrected it. On our last trip, I took along a meyer lemon tree (very short) with one fruit ripening and I didn't want to miss it since we'd be gone for three months, so took it along. While out, I picked up another meyer lemon tree and a couple of herb plants. Going into the shower while travelling was out of the question, so I took one of our empty storage tubs to put them in while on the road and the tub sat in the back of the Jeep. When we settled down at a campsite, I could easily take my plants out and stow the empty tub back in the underbelly of the motorhome. At first DH wasn't fond of it, he didn't particularly like me having the plants, but even he found out it wasn't a bother.Re: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & GizmosI love my two portable induction burners. They came with two frying pans, one with a lid that will also fit the big pot that came with them. I did buy a small saucepan. Suits us and saves on propane.Re: Yummy GoulashThat really looks good. Will have to give it a try.
