We also wanted a permanent bed "downstairs" in our C, so that meant a corner unless we got a much longer unit. I sleep on the outside and rarely get up so it works for me. Only thing I don't like is the wall is COLD in the winter but that is not the beds fault.329Views0likes0CommentsRe: Wheel base
I would always pick the model I could live that had the shortest possible rear overhang. IMHO a major drawback on longer C rigs. I also think that at the size you are considering your will be limiting your park access some and would be better off with an A. By no means am I saying your choice is wrong. They only accept tents, PUPS, and TCs (no dually) and no generators but if that describes you I suggest you look at Hermit Island Campground, Phippsburg, ME. It is right on Casco Bay and quite rustic. PS. I'm not sure about vans. At one time they did allow but not currently listed. I'd call in check if you have a B. Especially when you're sitting in a several hour traffic backup. If you're staying at a location for long periods, I think a TT is a better choice. Good thought on the hybrid. Limit for GC towing is 3500# so in the past I've looked at the likes of R-pods, A-liners, T@B, etc. I'm OK with a small TT or hybrid, as long as it is usable with the bunks in. Thanks for the quick replies. Although I like TCs the climb in is more than the DW desires. The ol' Runny Duck is only 24' so we too go toadless. I've got an 2006 Grand Cherokee w/ tow package that is low miles and great shape for a tow vehicle if I go that route. If I bought a trailer it would have to be nice enough for the wife and still rugged enough for at least mild off road use. Sorta leaning away from a PUP although we've used one before. I use PFJ almost exclusively when traveling, both with the MH and when car camping. The only caveat I would add is not all truck stops are the same. The locations that were originally Flying J locations are usually better suited for RVs than Pilot truck stops. Many Pilots have small lots and limited maneuvering/parking if you have a gas rig. I have gas and still prefer to use PFJ though. I have one convenient to home base and the services and locations have worked out well so far.577Views0likes0Comments
