No frills just a place to sleep, microwave, eating space etc. We would like to be able to heat and cool the van and we're wondering if the raised fiberglass roof would handle the weight (probably <100 lbs.) of a rooftop heatpump and if anyone out there has done a heatpump install on a conversion van. I'm assuming the roof is rated for far more weight than that considering some of the snow loads we've had on it. We tried heating it with a small electric heater but even in 40 degree weather it basically was worthless. A free standing portable unit takes up too much space.Re: Upgrading our power converter/inverterSorry,I always thought it was easier to read and my eyesight isn't what it used to be...not SHOUTING...AND MY CAPS LOCK KEY IS STUCK ONRe: Upgrading our power converter/inverterI ONLY RECENTLY DISCOVERED WHERE THE ONBOARD BATTERY WAS. EVERY TIME WE UNPLUGGED FROM SHORE POWER AND STARTED OUR TREK ABROAD, THE FRIG WOULDN'T AUTO SWITCH TO GAS. THE BATTERY WAS TUCKED UP UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE, BOLTED IN PLACE WITH NO EASY ACCESS TO CHECK WATER OR HOOK A BATTERY TENDER TO SO IT WAS DEAD. I REPLACED THAT AND I'M ADDING A TENDER FOR TIMES WE'RE NOT PLUGGED IN TO SHORE POWER AND OVER THE WINTER. THE INVERTER/CONVERTER PANEL MAKES SENSE TO ME AND I UNDERSTAND THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THEM I JUST WASN'T SURE I COULD REPLACE ONE WITHOUT THE OTHER OR IF I HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE POWER DISTRIBUTION PANEL. I COULD USE A FEW MORE AMPS OF POWER SOMETIMES.Re: Upgrading our power converter/inverterDON, I'M PRETTY GOOD WITH MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL STUFF BUT WHEN I LOOK AT THYE "GOB" OF WIRES GOING INTO AND OUT OF THE POWER CONVERTER AND INVERTER PANEL SYSTEM IT LOOKS LIKE IT WOULD BE A NIGHTMARE TO CHANGE OUT.Upgrading our power converter/inverterOUR 1982 CLASS C SHASTA MOTORHOME HAS AN ORIGINAL POWER INVERTER/CONVERTER THAT I REPLACED THE COOLING FAN ON A YEAR AGO. I WAS WONDERING IF I SHOULD CONSIDER UPGRADING THE INVERTER WITH A NEW INTEGRATED CIRCUTRY BOARD AND IF IT WOULD BE ANY BETTER THAN WHAT WE HAVE? THERE WAS A SMALL RELAY THAT WAS CRACKED INSIDE THE INVERTER WHICH I WAS ABLE TO REMOVE AND I'M STILL ABLE TO USE THE INVERTER. I THINK THE RELAY WAS FOR SWITCHING TO GENERATOR POWER TO AVOID BACKFEEDING INTO THE "SUPPLIED 120V" POWER CORD AND RECEPTACLE WHEN YOU RUN THE GENERATOR. ANY IDEAS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. WE'RE IN OUR 60s AND ARE PLANNING SOME TRIPS WITH THIS MOTORHOME AND WANT TO BE PREPARED.Re: Holiday Rambler Travel Trailer Water Heater TroublesFound out that the "heater" switch on the waste water panel in the bathroom is for the propane side of the water heater. The lighted switch near the kitchen sink is for the 120 VAC side of the heater. It has a t-stat that is preset mounted next to the ECO control. Got it figured out and many tanks for all your input.Re: Holiday Rambler Travel Trailer Water Heater TroublesThe water heater has water and gas. We have the trailer plugged into a 120 volt receptacle. The water heater is an Atwood Mobile Products model GC6AA-9E and is a 6.2 gallon unit. I have experience with all types of residential(in home) heat, vent and plumbing just not so much with campers. Guess they're similar in that they need power, gas and ignition. I'm just a little iffy on all the switches. The one by the sink has a red light and I'm thinking that the one in the bathroom on the waste water storage panel is a heater for the storage tank but there is also a pump switch on that panel?? Really appreciate all the help!!!Holiday Rambler Travel Trailer Water Heater TroublesWe bought a 25' Holiday Rambler travel trailer last year and upon start-up this summer we're having problems getting the water heater to light. There are no manuals for the camper and switches all over the place that I'm not sure about. In the bathroom at the waste water panel there are "pump" and "heater" switches. Near the kitchen sink is a water heater switch and on the water heater is a "on/off" switch. The gas is on and tank is full but it won't spark and ignite. I've tried turning on the switches and still nothing. Any help would be welcomed!Christmas trip to Florida...any tips? We've winterized our motorhome and decided to make a quick trip to Jacksonville, FL via SUV and a nights stay in a motel about halfway there (NC or SC). Anyone know of any Christmas activities going on along the way? We're leaving central PA traveling 81s-77-26 and 95. Also wondering if anyone knows of a nice, clean, bed-bug free hotel in the NC or SC areas that are pet friendly. We'd probably take our motorhome in better weather if we had more time but this was a spur of the moment decision and we're taking the safer way down. Once we get there we have accommodations at a private home so basically need a place half way. Thanks for your help!Towing with a 2005 Chev. TrailblazerWe are in the market for a tag along that we can easily pull with our Trailblazer. Basically we need to pull it home from where we purchase it and to our river lot where it will stay until we have to move it due to severe flooding. I know we need a certain type of hitch (weight distribution) with sway bars or torsion bars. The towing weight limit on the Trailblazer is between 4000 & 5000. Most of the tag alongs we are looking at are slightly more than that (between 5000 6000) so we're hoping that even if we have to get someone to tow it to our site for us that it wouldn't be a big problem for us to yank it off the site in case of flooding. Any of you guys had some experience with this situation?
