I appreciate the responses.Palm Springs, CA RV Park AdviseHello: I am posting this question for my brother. I am seeking advise on RV Parks in Palm Springs, CA. What nice, well maintained RV parks are available as close to down town Palm Springs, CA that is big rig friendly. The RV is a Class A motorhome, DIscovery 39U, double slide, with car. Has no pets and golf is not important. Or does anyone know of private RV spots available? Possible 1 year stay. Will be heading there the first part of March 2015. Thank you in advance. Moderator: Sorry if this is in the wrong category.Re: Ford pickup sales down again others mostly up.We tried to update to a Ford 2014 4 door 1/2T 4X4. It was a super nice rig. We currently have a F150 4X4 ext. cab in super condition with 36,000 miles on it. The problem? The dealership offered a insulting price on our trade, with a take it or leave it attitude. About $ 5,000 below average NADA. Our truck is in super, clean condition. I am thinking that maybe the reason sales are slightly down is due to dealerships being cheap on trade ins. Needless to say, we keep our 2010 and are quite happy with that decision. My 2 cents.Re: Buying an RV ParkTo the OP: I am a retired CPA of 25 years and additional 3 years of being in SCORE. All the advise you have received has been excellent bar none. I would add an old saying I have used for years, Trust, But Verify. DO NOT and I mean DO NOT take the current owners information. Do your due diligence and verify independently yourselves that the information is true and correct. In my career, I have seen way to many individuals buying businesses without independent verification. They buy, then come to us (CPA'S, Attorneys, etc.) because of issues that would of been found out if they done their independent verifications. By then, it is to late and money (working capital) has run out. You are in the driver's seat with the money, so slow down, verify and get the right people in to independently assess the business. He who listens to advise is very wise CarlRe: Torn between full time RVing and aging parents.Lot's of good advice and all of it for you to go and enjoy yourselves on the road. PLEASE GO!!!!!! You can always call on a regular basis and stop by on holidays, etc. You have a son just minutes away in case of an emergency. We were also going to go full time, but it is not going to happen. This last year I was caring for my 94 year old mother in her home. She was in denial about going to assisted living. I lived aways away and would fly in very, very regularly. The stress cause me cascading health issues including blood clots to the lungs and heart, kidney issues and now fighting COPD. The health issues came up very fast and it was no fun sitting in the hospital being told I was extremely lucky. We only get one shot at life, please take it and go. How quickly things can change. Your Mom will do fine as she is in a very good facility. GO!Re: Older bus style class a? As durable as they say?Lots of good advise so far. My brother recently purchased a 2002 Discovery 37U with the 330 Cat and 3000 Allison Transmission. Before purchasing it, a complete inspection of all the running gear was done. The motorhome was purchase way below book, knowing that the home part had delayed maintenance not done. And this is where you have to be really careful and be able to afford repairs and maintenance to be done or you yourself is really, really good at maintenance work. In my brothers case, he is very handy at fixing everything from furnace to hot water heater to plumbing fixtures to window repairs and on and on. Other than his time and labor, the cost to bring this unit up to date and in excellent condition has been on the low side. Just count on a lot of little repairs and updates on these older units. Good Luck!Re: ? on Propane/Aux Propane gauges on Discovery 37UAh ha! Question solved. The Aux. propane gauge is indeed for a optional propane generator. The motor home my brother owns has a diesel generator. Thank you for your replies. Happy RV'ing.? on Propane/Aux Propane gauges on Discovery 37UHello once again. As you may or may not recall, my brother purchased a 2002 Discovery 37U with the 330 Cat., nicely appointed and in quite good condition. The question is, on the control panel it says it has a propane gauge and Aux propane gauge. Currently the propane gauge shows 1/2 full and the Aux. shows empty. Why does this show two LP tank gauges. I'm thinking that the Aux. gauge is for an external tank hookup with the switch near the main tank fill up valve. I appreciate any insight and as always, thank you in advance.Re: Help with replacing Class A tires:I want to thank all of you for your reply's and advise. I ended up getting 4 Toyo's 265/75 R 22.5 tires, mounted and balanced at $ 420.00 per tire, total of $ 1,680.. out the door. The front two tires are Toyo's and are only 3 years old and still in very, very good condition. Again, Thank you and happy RVing!Help with replacing Class A tires:After helping my brother look for a Class A motor home for over a year, he finally found one he likes. The deal closes this Thursday. It is a 2002 Discovery with a 330 cummins, Allison trans., two slides etc. It was checked out by a professional shop. It will need new tires. It has Toyo 265-5R 22.5 on the front and I don't know what the heck brand of 25580R 22.5 on the back. For those of you who know this motor home and over all experiences with 22.5 tires, what brand would you put on this motorhome? Toyo all around? I was thinking Hanooks. Looking for advise. Thank you in advance for all your kind advise. Carl
