I do not normally read this forum so, if Marcus ever apologized, I never saw it. But I find apologies after ignorant acts or comments do little to remove the fact that such a thing occurred. With that I bid goodbye to Good Sam and one more charter member bites the dust and says adios to an organization that is no longer of any benefit to me in my pursuit of RV life. It was never political - it was that he personally insulted every member of this organization that had a belief different from his. The man is just another liberal liar.Asking for Apology Before RenewalMy member number is 800431629. I received my renewal notice today. I have no intention of renewing or having anything to do with Good Sam until I personally receive an apology from Marcus Lemonis for the incredibly ignorant remark he made regarding members who believe what our President said about Charlottesville. I have done extensive research on those remarks and found them to be accurate in every way regardless of what the main stream media says. How many know that the ACLU took the case of the marchers to court to get them a permit? I have zero support for any white supremacists groups but I have even less respect for masked thugs who insist on violence to break up any permitted march. Antifa has proven their true colors in additional skirmishes that they instituted following Charlottesville. I have calculated my benefits from Good Sam membership for the past year and they do not equal the membership fee. As a retired military veteran I find that most campgrounds give the same discount to veterans as Good Sam. I was a charter member of the original Good Sam club (#0052) but the club has drifted far from it's original charter - to help others. Now it is little more than a money grubbing organization that still has some value in the RV world but not as much as they contend. Marcus - have you extended an apology? BillRe: National General autopay feature?? easlingn wrote: Killian52 wrote: Thank You for the reply's and I did some of my own due diligence before signing up with NG and I couldn't find any "unusual" complaints including here on RV net. In fact I couldn't find any at all here which to me is not normal. go to the top of the forun and type in national general and yoy will find 7 pages of posts about national general and most are negative. That is why I went with Blue Sky they have full timers insurance at a very good rate I challenge you to go to the top of the forum and type in ANY insurance company name and guarantee you will come back with many more negative comments than positive. Why - because those who have bad experiences are much more likely to post a comment. Those who have never had a bad experience never have a need to post a comment unless they had a claim with some employee doing an extraordinary job. Never base your selection of an insurance company on negative posts on the internet. A company may have 50,000 RV customers and you read 6 complaints filed over a period of 3 or 4 years and assume all is bad. Just use your head and read the policy before you buy and check out the company with any rating agency. I am moving away from National General this year, not because I have really only had one minor problem with them, but because the company I am going to has the same coverage policy, has good ratings and is nearly $200 cheaper on premium. Others have checked out at over $500 higher on premium costs. Insurance is a******shoot - no matter how you slice it. I have been a member of USAA for over 52 years but, for Class A coverage, they sent me to Progressive, a company that I really dislike.Re: Really disappointed Hibbyk wrote: I'm new to Forum and have info on my problem with RV coverage. Don't know if this is the right place to vent. Let er blow Hibbyk - we are all ears (and eyes).Re: WARNING: Good Sam "pay when you go" RV insuranceThat all sounds very nice Robyn but the agent I talked to told me specifically that agents are not aware of the requirements of each state but I should definitely (and she emphasized the definitely) check with my state MV folks. I still contend that this advertisement is very misleading in that it does not specifically state in equally large print that this option is not available in all states. It would be very easy for someone to buy it without checking with their state MV people and later finding out they were in violation of state law. Things like this are making me check out other insurance companies at renewal time.Re: Good Sam TravelAssist+I bought a three year TA plan this summer just before a long trip which we completed successfully. At our ages, we could easily encounter a medical problem that would require the benefits of this plan and I am happy to see that others who have had need to use it or check out its use have been satisfied with the service they received. I was also happy to see a GS Travel Assist person offer to help the lady who had wrongfully been told she needed a 5 day hospitalizaton for RV return service. By the way, I can understand the 'up to 10 day' requirement for a driver to return an RV. Ask some of the major factories about their experience in getting their coaches delivered. They all seem to be looking for a service that provides drivers.WARNING: Good Sam "pay when you go" RV insuranceThe October issue of Motorhome arrived today and the outer cover was an advertisement for Good Sam RV Insurance using the headline "See how much you can SAVE with "pay when you go" RV insurance? This sounds really good and it was also offered in past years. I bought my coach in January 2014 and bought the GS insurance through National General Insurance Group. When I was arranging the insurance, I asked for details on savings when I had the coach stored. The agent told me all about those savings but then added that I should check with my state to make sure the storage option was legal. It happened the agent was in Missouri and I live in Missouri so I figured she was giving me a clue on this matter. I emailed the state motor vehicle office asking about the legality of dropping my liabilty insurance while my RV was in storage. Here is the answer I received: "As long as you have valid registration (plates) on the motor home, you must carry at least the liability minimums, even if the unit is in storage and you do not use it. However, if you surrender the plates during the time the unit is in storage you are not required, by our office, to maintain the minimum liability insurance on the unit. If your insurance coverage goes below the Missouri minimums, you may be penalized, even if the unit is in storage and not in use." In the small print under the advertisement is the statement that 'Availability, eligibility, ..........may vary by state and carrier" But the point is - don't leap before you look and do check with your state motor vehicle folks before asking for the pay when you go insurance option. GS should be ashamed to putting out this kind of advertising without making it clear that some states do no allow such an option.Re: Good Sam Campground Directory—To Big kalynzoo wrote: I really don't mind the big single book. Even if I don't travel east of the Mississippi I like to be able to reference places listed in the magazines or in blogs. My vote is to keep it complete. Agree. If they split it, they will just charge the same price but for each version. I only paid $ 9.95 for mine in a CW store and figure it is one of the best values I have found for anything associated with the RV lifestyle. I am one of those neatniks who even took out the stick on labels for each state and put them on the edge of the book so I can refer to a state quickly.Re: Selling a Motorhome for Dummies?Don't get wrapped up around the tire issue. There are many many motorhomes on the road with tires over 8 years old but a lot depends on how it was stored and if they were occasionally moved. The DOT codes on the tire should show the week of the year and the year in which they were produced. The letters DOT will precede the numbers or you can google for info on how to find and read tire codes. Generally, 7 years is the accepted time before replacement is recommended but they will not all fall apart one day past 7 years. Price it for tire replacement and definitely replace that slider awning - I would never consider a coach with a missing awning - not that it's that bad but it indicates that the previous owner didn't much care (which would not be true here). Leave the mattress in the coach. Some may like it and others may not. If not, they will replace at their expense. Good luck. Born and raised in NOLA but left at age 21 and spent most of life in North Dakota (brrrr) thank to U.S. Air Force.Re: bit the bullet WETSNAIL wrote: Well, we bit the bullet and decided on a MH. We did everything wrong, probably have problems but made a real deal. Bought a 1999 Winnebago Vectra grand tour, just over 5000 miles. Actually traded it for a 2008 TT. I'm sure the salesman was not completely truthfull because hid lips were moving. I'm still really in the dark so I am sure you will see lots of questions. One right off the bat is the TE41309 the build date on the tires? Anyone familiar with this type of MH. Thanks, Cork Is that code preceded by a DOT ?? If not, it would not be a date code. Plus the numbering would be all wrong (I think) as there is no 413th week of 09. Look around further and see if you see a code preceded by the DOT letters. The code will only be on one side of the tire and of the 6 tires on my MH, only one had the code facing out.
