All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Black Waste Tank BypassYes. The valve is before the tank. And, I made sure that the tank has water and chemicals in it. It can still be used at any time. All I have to do is turn the switch, and whala, it will flush out like it used to.Re: Black Waste Tank BypassAh yes, Venting. I tied my sewer pipe into my pre-existing vent pipes. Also, the grey water tanks are always left open and running, which is also tied into the sewer pipe, like it was before. There is venting there as well. As for the 90 degree angle fitting, no problem. I assumed that since the bull run valve was originally made for outdoor septic systems, it should work for my system. The bull run was made to be installed underground & horizontally. So, I figured that by placing the valve vertically, I would get a better and stronger flow. Like I said. All works great. No smell, no gases and all poop runs downhill!! :-) Hoping that the idea may work for someone else.Re: Black Waste Tank BypassI am trying to post another photo; Black Waste Tank BypassI am stationary in my 5th wheel for a long period of time, and I was tired of dumping my tank all the time. I did not want to get rid of the tank, just in case. So I found the solution. I bought a Bull Run Diverter Valve . This allows me to select where I want the waste to go. I can use the tank, or I can divert the waste and go directly into the sewer line. It works fine. It takes up a little space in the basement, but worth it not having to worry about dumping all the time. The tank is kept partially full with clean water and chemicals. [img] [/img] Re: Missing PlumbingTanks are sold b y size, so you don't have to be camper specific. Measure the tank and either go to a parts store or get it on line. They are really not that expensive and they can be shipped cheap since they are lightweight, although bulky. And you will need to replace the valves. Just another thought, I have seen some long-term/permanent RVers who have hooked up directly to sewer. Some have bypassed or removed the tank altogether. I am not sure if there are any downside to this, but I can't imagine this would be a problem if you do not intend to drydock. Goo luck to you.Re: Sky Deck RenovationI would love to see photos of the completed project. You have done some very impressive work!!Re: A heads up on powerHola, everyone, and hola Brian!! WE are in Jocotepec and I had to check on my Hughes Autoformer RV220-50. The voltage inside my 5th wheel was high, and I was depending on the Hughes to lower the voltage. The Hughes has a light to say that it has park power, and the other to say it is on boost mode. Neither light was on. I checked the voltage coming from the park and it was 122, and the voltage coming out of the Hughes was 138. I checked it at other power poles and it was doing the same. My Progressive Industries 30 amp surge protector was not hooked up, since it had caught on fire at a Matehuala RV park a few days earlier. Our park had transformer fires during a large caravan visit. I am thinking that the Hughes suffered damage when this occurred. The Hughes was purchased several years ago, so there is no warranty on it. The Hughes User Guide recommends that the unit should be returned for service. BUT, I am in Mexico and do not plan on leaving, nor plan on mailing out this heavy box. I am thinking about having it checked out here and take my chances. If it is completely fried, and beyond repair, I have found a local electric shop that sells the SOLA BASIC 4000 for $3,400 pesos, which , I think is fair. What are your thoughts on the Hughes issues? And, I can see that most people here seem to favor the Sola Regulator.Re: anyone know a shop in Guadalajara that works on Chev DmaxThere is a local mechanic about 30 minutes south of Guadalajara, just outside Jocotepec, on hwy 15, known as Carr. Guadalajara/Morelia about 6 km NORTH of El Crucero on the EAST side of the road. (Do not confuse him with Salvadores who is across the road on the WEST side much closer to El Crucero). It will be at the intersection across from the PEMEX station. I got the following off Google maps (Jocotepec JALISCO GPS 20.319495, -103.492181) Google Map He worked on my turbo on my 2004 Ford Superduty diesel and did a good job. He came highly recommended by some of the local businesses that use heavy duty diesel trucks for delivery. He also works on buses, and heavy equipment. Local mechanics bring their heavy duty work and diesel issues to him. His place is nothing fancy, in fact, if you blink, you may miss it. Look for all the trucks and buses parked out front. There is no sign and it could pass for a junk yard. You would not know it was a mechanic if I had not mentioned it here. (WHAT do you expect, this is Mexico!!! They don't use fancy signage or extravagant entrances) He lives upstairs from the garage and it is located on the dirt road that runs parallel to the highway. On the Southeast corner of the main road in to the small pueblo of Zapotitan de Hidalgo. Gregorro Cueves, Cel phone 33-39-55-59-79 He does NOT speak English and this number is about a year old, so I am not sure if it is still active. Best of luck. Feel free to contact me if you need any more info. We have been living in Joco for the last 3 years and have gotten to know our way around.Re: Medical Insurance for RVer while in MexicoAlthough we are in Mexico for a long term, we still depend on our U.S. health insurance. As someone else posted, most health care in Mexico is reasonably priced, as is medication. My United Health Care allows me to save up my receipts and submit for reimbursement, which I have been doing for about one year now, and they have pulled through. AS for emergency situations, our Mexican auto insurance has a feature which allows us to be med-vac to the U.S. They will also pay for someone to bring our RV back and pay for a family or friend to fly to Mexico to do so. There are also several companies that offer short term insurance or med-vac policies. Just have to do your homework and do some on-line research. Good luck. Happy travels.
