From there, it looks like there are 2 parallel roads that head to Rushmore (specifically the KOA outside). Is there a preferred road to get there, or are they both suitable for towing? ThanksRe: Problems removing water heaterThis is OEM. It was an option on the Wildcats in 2011. It was supposed to be an upgrade, but the general public felt otherwise. For us, it has been really good. It is really nice to never run out of hot water with 4 people taking showers. We never had any problems at all until this issue due to me not getting all the water out. Montana is much less forgiving than Houston, TX. So I pulled one piece of panelling off, then cut a hole in the next panelling behind that, and got to the fittings and back of the unit. It must have been assembled prior to all the skin being put on. Thanks for the help. Any advice on putting the new one back in will be much appreciated.Problems removing water heaterDue to poor winterization, my tankless water heater busted. I am trying to remove the unit, but having problems. I disconnected the gas line, but do not see any place to disconnect the other lines. It seems it should pull out of the hole and then give me access to the connections. But it won't pull all the way out. Help needed. I have the new unit already. The connections are on the back side except for the gas line that passes thru the back wall. I am really confused. There is no panel to remove without cutting a hole, so there is no designed access to reach the back side.Houston to Billings, MT... What route?Greetings, We are making a move from Houston to Billings, MT, and I am looking for the best route. I am pulling my fiver at about 11,000 lbs. i will unload whatever is unnecessary, and put that into the moving van to make it as light as possible. We are not driving the moving truck. Mainly, I am interested in the route from Houston to Denver. From there up, it does not appear that there are options. So if you can tell me about the route from Houston thru College Station, Abilene, Sweetwater, Lubbock, Amarillo, Pueblo, and up to Denver. Hwy 287 & 87. My concern here is the section from Pueblo to Denver. Looks like some big hills that I can avoid on the other routes, but it looks like a less busy route. The other option is Waco, Fort Worth, Wichita Falls, Amarillo, and then up thru Pueblo to Denver. I-35 & I-20 Finally, just straight up thru Dallas, Oklahoma City, Wichita, Salina, and then due West to Denver. I-35 to I-40. Any information on the route from Denver up to Billings is great, too. There just appears to be only one logical route for that part. Did I mention we were making this trip in late January? All help appreciated. Moved to Roads and Routes forum from Towing. Houston to Billings, MT... What route? This topic has been moved to another forum. You can read it here: 27380414Re: Should I worry about freezing? We live in Houston, and I never winterize. I only drain the tanks, let the water pump push out what it can from the lines, and put it away. Never had a problem so far. I would not leave it full of water, but I would not be concerned with anything more than that. Enjoy your winter.Re: Falling out of the bunk bed and damaging the floor.Did I read the first post right? Are we talking 4" deep or 1/4" deep? If it is 4", you can.t use a filler because there is nothing to support it. If you use a self leveling filler, it may set up, but there is nothing to hold it up once the subfloor is gone. As soon as you step on it, it will let loose. You have to get to the supporting joists under the floor and replace enough wood to get back to those. This could be very hard just from the top- hard without making a mess anyway. Good Luck. CharlesRe: Road Service? We have AAA plus RV. 3 years ago, we lost a tire on Hwy 290 coming out of Houston during rush hour. We got to the shoulder, but could not change the tire without something blocking traffic- I could not even stand next to the trailer while cars blew by. I was very scared for my family. AAA came through for us big time that day. I have not needed them since that time, but that memory makes it very easy to send in the payment every year. I also try really hard to avoid high traffic times in cities. I will keep roadside coverage, but I don't have any experience to say one is better than the other.Re: Ford F250 -- 5.4 vs. V-10I love this topic. This is like an old movie that comes on tv once in a while. You know everything everyone is going to say, but you have to look at it anyway.Re: Who are the better 5th wheeler manufacturers?I have a Wildcat by FR. 312BHX. We love it. 3 bunks and a small dinette that makes the 4th bunk in the rear bunk room. 34 feet, 8,700 lbs dry. Tows great. This is by no means a Mobile Suites, but it has a much lower price point as well. It is just what we need with2 kids who always bring a friend. Oh, and we have not had any problems with ours other than operator error. Good luck with your search.
