Is it okay for 40footer with tow?Re: Oregon 199 to crescent city, caThanks... no problem apparently... We really didn't want to go the long way. Can't be any more fun than Echo Summit at Lake Tahoe and we do that many times each year.Oregon 199 to crescent city, caThought I had this all figured out.. but now I learn 199 probably isn't a good road for 40foot plus tow... We are trying to get from Ashland, ore area to Brookings... Think we'll have to drive up i-5 to catch 42 and cut over at Bandon... Any other suggestions?? ThanksBad day for a Journey...Wish I had thought to take a photo... On Highway 50 over Echo Summit climbing away from Lake Tahoe... A 40foot Journey stopped not quite from the summit... in the most impossible location - the 3 mile narrow section with cliff on one side and rock on the other -no shoulder... He had our sympathy... A Caltrans truck had to drag it probably two miles over the summit to a wide area to await a tow truck. There was no other choice as he had the highway blocked. I guess he put it in neutral and tried to steer... Couldn't have been a worse location for the dreaded stop engine routine...Re: Don't be this person--PICMy experience surrounded a gas pump and a very rude family. It was a regular station and the diesel was at only one pump. The family pumped gas and sat... and went in the store... and sat... and went to the bathroom and sat... All while I was idling the diesel right behind them patiently waiting. I had the ATV trailer attached and was at such an angle that backing up was an issue and besides, it was obviously the only diesel pump.. I'm the DW and that family had some rather beefy grumpy men among them so I decided I would just wait rather than push the issue. But luckily after 10 minutes and me getting ready for battle, the attendant got involved and told them to MOVE. I do not understand the mentality.
