All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Jump startSagebrush like you I try to be proactive when it comes to roadside repairs but this time it was on my Hybrid Prius which had me a little nervous about trying to jump start it. On newer vehicles I have heard sensors can be damaged with jump starts. On the Prius you have to remove the entire trunk area and everything in it to reach the battery and I am handicapped. Making matters worse the hatchback remains locked without 12 volts preventing easy access to the trunk area.Re: Jump starttime2roll, I believe you might have hit on the truth. I now wonder if paying higher price for another roadside assistance provider might be a good idea. My Good Sam is coming due soon and this gives me pause.Jump startWaited for service 1.5 hours while automated text message indicated Good Sam was trying to find a service provider. After one hour no more text and after another 30 min. I googled how to do repairs and took care of jumping my 2010 Toyota Prius on my own. My roadside assistance now worries me as this could be a serious issue when traveling in my motor home. I fear Good Sam is not at fault for trying to find a service provider, my fear is that there are not any service providers.Re: power gear jacks issueI think it could be under the driver side dash. That is where mine is.Re: Slide HelpI am thinking the wiring connection to the motor could warrant a look.Re: Power Solutions?kmb1966, your picture looks like my ps but with the cord plugged in the way your picture shows, it would not be in use unless you unplug it and plug in and outside power source. Thank you for the picture. RLS7201 thank you for your pictures also. Excellent information.Re: Power Solutions?Hello wa8yxm. Yes, it is the Power Solutions device which requires you to plug a second power cord into the service pedestal. I installed it about 7 years ago. However, after a year of using it in Texas, I had a problem with our automatic electrical transfer switch which resulted in it needing replacement. Since I don't know what caused the transfer switch to fail, I was concerned it might have been the Power Solutions which caused it, thus, my question at the start of this thread. We now spend our hot summers in Colorado and have not used it for the last 5 years.Re: Power Solutions?Awesome replies. I am very grateful. Thank you everyone.Power Solutions?I have a power solutions modification which when hooked up is suppose to fool the ems into thinking it is on generator instead of shore power, in other words, 50 amps. Useful when you need more power to operate both a/c units but when I started thinking about it, all power is going through one side or the other of the transfer switch, so no matter what, I will still only have 30 amps. Am I missing something about how this modification works?Re: Did you ever love your home...but sold it to fulltimeIn 2010 my wife and I purchased our MH, hired a liquidation company to sell our stuff, sold the house and no regrets. We lived in our home 35 years and made a lot of upgrades but retirement income was less than what would be needed for taxes, insurance, utilities, repairs, ect. not to mention cost of living. Now we would not have a stick n brick. When we get tired of travel, I will buy a piece of property and park the MH under a RV port and continue living in it. I recommend have more than 2 slide outs as full timing can get crowded at times.
