Prior (and original) owner puchased new and used once or twice. Has anyone ever heard of the slide frame member getting twisted under normal use, as opposed to being shipped that way? Independent service replaced one of the schwintek motors on kitchen slide. Problem still persisted and upon further digging, report that the front side slide frame member is actually twisted. As expected (unfortunately) Jayco says I'm on my own. No discussion; no effort to appease a customer or accept any responsibility or even to offer/support further evaluation to determine IF it actually is a factory or manufacturer issue. I've heard of RV manufacturers standing behind their products but apparently JAYCO isn't one of them. So, back to my original question - is it even possible to twist a schwintek slide frame member such that it creates a binding when moving the slide in and out?? BTW - prior owner says the slide was always "tight" and he had to resynch schwintek once, despite using the trailer just a few times. Suggestions on how to proceed with Jayco, other than avoiding them with my next purchase??? Thanks - StephenRe: How to safely operate a B & W Patriot 16k 5th wheel hitchI love this hitch! As easy as everyone claims. Only once (recently too) did it seem to bind when disconnecting. Only issue I can think of was that the trailer wasn't perfectly level R to L? I was in a parking lot so couldn't be that far off. And doesn't seem like that could be an issue. But I couldn't pull out of the jaws after doing all the normal disconnect process. Thought trailer wasn't elevated enough and when I raised it more, it popped and came loose. WeirdRe: Tucson to Show Low azdryheat wrote: Salt River Canyon is a blast on a motorcycle. Lots of steepness and sharp turns. I've done it many times on two wheels. I've also done it towing my condo. Not nearly as much fun as on two wheels but it's no big deal. 87 also works. I go that way when I'm moving motorhomes from Albuquerque to Phoenix. i see it's about a 90 mile difference between the 2 routes and through payson via the 87 says an hour longer. But does it end up being about the same time given the hill climbs and turns etc on the 60?Re: Tucson to Show Lowthanks for the feedback folks!!Tucson to Show LowLooking for feedback from anyone who has traveled from Tucson to Show Low via Hwy 60 and Hwy 70 through Oracle, Globe, Salt River canyone area and up on to Show Low. I google earthed the route and can see the canyone part is a little winding and maybe 2 lanes. RV park person highly recommended that I add the hour and go N to Mesa and take the 87 up through Payson. 2001 F350 7.3 Powerstroke towing a 37' Montana. Thanks in advance!!Re: I-40 traverse from Asheville, NC to Gatlinburg, Tn ken56 wrote: I live in the area and have taken this stretch many times. You are going through the Pigeon river Gorge and trucks are limited to the right lane. Just get in behind a truck, keep a good following distance and use your tranny gearing to keep your speed down. It's an interstate so there are no hairpin turns or switchbacks but it is mostly down hill from Asheville and it has many curves and you will need to take it easy. Its not terrible. I have a 2500 gaser and I manage just fine. Where in G'burg are you going for your stay? You can take exit 440, Wilton Springs, and connect to 321 to go into G'burg. You can take exit 435 if you want a Walmart to stop at before going to the campground. It leads to 321 also. Any other questions just ask. Thanks very much for the reply! Hopefully staying in either Twin Creek RV Resort in Gatlinburg or Pine Mountain in Pigeon Forge. Confirmed that both are open, and I'll presume not very busy.Re: I-40 traverse from Asheville, NC to Gatlinburg, Tn stallsmi wrote: It depends on your tow vehicle. But we've travelled that route a few times with our 32' travel trailer and F250. No problems if you take your time and expect to go slower on some steep inclines. 2001 F350 with 7.3 Powerstroke. But being an older truck, I don't have exhaust brakes. Don't mind going slow but I do like to be able to stop.I-40 traverse from Asheville, NC to Gatlinburg, TnAnyone who's traveled this stretch of I-40, I'm wondering how the road is overall (winding, hilly, etc) for a 37' 5th wheel. We've been through the Smokey Mtns but not with the 5th wheel, but only looking to get over to Gatlinburg and then day trip through Smokey Mtn NP. This is a pick up and pack up (from Tucson) our graduating youngest daughter from Virginia Tech. Taking the 5th wheel to eliminate the need for bathrooms, restaurants and hotels. And enough room to pack her stuff! Thanks for any info!Re: Long Island AreaThank you all for the info and the heads up on “parkways”!Long Island AreaFrom those in the area or with experience, do I need to worry about navigating our 37’ 5th wheel to any of the parks on Long Island?? Will be coming from Philly, and looking at Battle Row Campground near Old Bethpage. We’ve been FT since last August so have moved this rig around a lot of places so far.
