Has anyone else dealt with the size and operation of the murphy bed. Unsure how to attach sheets. Does the bed need to be made up every day or do the sheets stay attached? If the sheets stay attached, how do they stay in place? Has anyone replaced the Winnebago mattress with a queen foam mattress? Any help would be appreciated.Re: Winnebago Itasca Full Wall Slide FailureI have the Winnebago Journey that uses the Schwintek slide system slide on a full wall slide. Fortunately, I have not had any issues with it YET, but it sounds like it is only a matter of time. I did attend the Winnebago Rally last year in Forest City and spoke with the rep from Lippert about the system. The key to success, at least according to him, was proper lubrication and adjusting it periodically. I have done that and have had no issues. This is what I was told to do. First, I use CRC lubricant with PTFE (aerosol comes in a green can) to lubricate the top and bottom gears of the slides. The lubricant MUST have PTFE in it. I found this online at WW Grainger. I could have had it shipped to the house, but I choose to pick it up free from the local Grainger store and avoid the delivery charge. I lubricate both the top and bottom gears on the motors by sliding the small red extension tube from the can (similar to the tube that comes with WD40) into the location where the motors are. This is just above the gears that are permanently located on the exterior slide wall. Then, after all 4 motor/gears (top & bottom on each side of the slide out) are lubricated, I fully run the slide in and out to help get the lubrication worked in. Second, you need to adjust the slide. Note that what I was told will contradict what others have said about stopping the slide in partial retraction/extension. I was told to run the slide either in or out (depending on the slides current position), only about 1 inch. Then either retract or extend back to your starting position. For clarity, note that you will only be moving the slide in or out only about an inch each way. Do this 3 times. You may hear the motor slightly run about 1 second when the slide is in or out after you let up on the switch. This is normal and is the syncing process Schwintek uses to keep the motors in sync. The system, according to the rep, counts the revolutions of the motors. If they get out of sync for whatever reason, this will adjust them. My slide was very noisy while running down the road, and this process eliminated the noise. The slide sounded like it was going to fall out. I do this on my 2 Schwintek slides, so far, with no problems. I have only owned the MH for about 18 months, so this may or may not be helping, but to me, it is a "feel good" thing to do. Hope this helps someone! TomRe: Valterra Water Regulator A01-1114VPThank you!!! You guys are amazing and have given me somewhere to start. I'll take any other suggestions!!!! Thanks again! TomValterra Water Regulator A01-1114VPThis water regulator is set to deliver 50-55 psi rather than the more standard 40-50 psi, just a slight increase but an increase none the less. Has anyone used these and have an opinion on it? Note this is not a variable regulator. I'm just trying to improve the water flow into my RV in general. Thanks, TomDish Receiver Compatibilty with Pay As You GoI have the Travler SK-1000 dish using the VIP211K. I want to get the Hopper with the built in DVR compatibilities. I know this combination works according to Dish, but my question is: 1) Is this still compatible with the Pay As You Go Service? Occasionally we move our local stations to another city and we do not want to loose that. I don't want to get into a 2 year contract if I don't have to, but might consider it if it were required. What I can't loose is the flexibility with the local channels. Any experience on this on out there? Thanks, TomRe: Giant City SP, IllinoisJust FYI, you might also try Crab Orchard Campground. It is right on the Lake. If I recall, they open Apr 1. Water and electric, but have a dump station. It's a very nice park close to Giant City SP. We stayed there and felt it was a good location, right off Hwy 13 into Carbondale. Cash/check only when we were there.Re: Travel Report: Big Bend National ParkGood blog, enjoyed it. I am heading to Big Bend in March. Any feedback on your ability (if you tried) to have cell phone service (name the carrier if so) or internet ( name the carrier if so). BTW, loved your blog.Re: Newbie Questions on 6th day of first trip...This morning before my Tuesday apt, I thought I would give it a start to see if anything has changed. Really nothing has changed, but rather than just crank it after the glow plug light when off, I left the key in that position before starting and the trans light stayed lit for about 10 seconds, and then goes out. So the trans light stays lit (warning message and the icon light) before the engine is even running. Not that this helps me determine anything, but I thought I would throw it out there, it might be interesting to someone. I wonder if I can get a trouble code off the transmission somehow in that short period of time. I do not know if one is even generated. Below are the details of the MH. The MH is a 2104 Winnebago Journey 36M, Freightliner chassis, 6 speed Allison trans 3000 MH, Cummins ISB XT 6.7 L Turbo Charged Diesel with 360 HP, and 3,600 miles on the odometer. Not sure what else I could tell you about it. I am not a handy automotive guy. The engine seems fine, always has (knock on wood). Even the trans seems to run fine (knock on wood again). Can't say whether the after treatment works or not. Not sure how I would know whether it is or is not working. I have not lost any engine power at all in all this. Thanks, TomNewbie Questions on 6th day of first trip...So far, we are not having a good trip with our first motorhome, and it is only day 6. We have an appt with Freightliner for next Tuesday (11/11). We are fortunate enough to at least be fairly close to a real Freightliner service center in Tucson. Our MH was purchased new, it now has 3,500 miles on it, of which 2,300 were put on in the last 6 days. Just a few questions if any of you have any experience with this stuff; 1) The Transmission light icon and a warning message on the dashboard now stays lit for about maybe 10 seconds at start up. It has not done that before (1st 5 days). The light does go out, but we are wondering if this is normal. This is a new occurrence in the last day. Does this occur to any of you? Recall we only have 6 days of experience, but this never occurred during the first 5 days of the trip. 2) The low battery warning message appears on the screen, but not the icon on the chassis dashboard, again, only at start up, but this is also new in the last day. Does this ever occur to any of you? 3) While the DW was driving, the ABS icon light came on, all dashboard lights illuminated, cruise control dis-engaged, the gauges all went to zero, and then a moment later, all lights/gauges returned to normal. This has now happened twice. The 2nd time it was during a braking operation going about 3 mph. I will report this to Freightliner when I take it in next Tuesday. Anyone ever had this happen? 4) Lastly, I was unable to turn off the engine this morning using the ignition switch. Upon leaving our campsite, I drove to a place to attach the toad, turned off the ignition, only to hear some humming sound from the rear of the coach. Turns out the engine was still running and I had an active light, which was the malfunction indicator lamp which indicates a problem with the after treatment system. We had 5 fault codes from this issue. Anyone ever been unable to turn off their engine? Sorry for the long message, I am looking for anyone's experience that might shed light on any of this. I'm hoping I do not have a lemon. Thanks, TomYet Another Stupid Newbie Question...This Saturday we head out on our first MH trip with our new MH. We are very excited. Here's my newbie question.... When we stay overnight for just 1 night, and DO NOT level, I am assuming the air stays in the air bags overnight. (it's an air ride diesel pusher, 2014 Winnebago 36M). Is that correct or do I somehow need to dump the air out of the air bags even though I am not leveling and will not be perfectly level. Note: When I auto level, the air gets dumped from the bags. Thanks, Tom
