All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsTexas - LBJ, George HW Bush librariesI want to visit the LBJ (Austin) and George HW Bush (College Station) presidential libraries in Texas, allowing 1 full day for each. They are close enough together that ideally I’d park my 36ft motor home in one spot and drive my car to each. I’ve gone to other places by staying at Walmart overnight, then driving my motor home to the attraction, visiting it, then driving to another walmart to spend the night. But I don’t see a way to make that work for these places. So I’m looking for suggestions for RV parks or other places that would (ideally) serve as a reasonable place to stay in order to visit both places. If that results in long drives, say more than an hour and a half, then please suggest places to stay for each library. Thanks. This is a great forum!Re: Estes Park CO to Grand Lake COExcellent! Thanks for the advice. I’m going to Estes Park because I go to RMNP to hike, and the east side has more good trails, imo. Same advice for hiking as for driving - get up early (and go for long hikes) and crowds aren’t much of a problem!Estes Park CO to Grand Lake COI have a 36’ class A diesel motor home pulling a Honda CRV. I will be staying in Estes Park, CO in August, then moving to Grand Lake on the other side of RMNP. How would you recommend I get to Grand Lake? It looks like Trail Ridge Rd through the park is the most straightforward way to go, but I’m not so sure it’s the best way with my motorhome/toad. Thanks!Re: grand canyon north rim to south rimThanks for the quick reply!grand canyon north rim to south rimI plan to travel from the north rim to the south rim of Grand Canyon NP in my 36 ft motorhome with toad. Google tells me I should go west on 64 from Cameron. I think the main way people arrive is via 64 north from Williams. Is the west route from Cameron suitable for RVs, or should I take the long way and go via Flagstaff or Williams? Thanks!mold smell from shower drainOur recently acquired 2001 Winnebago Ultimate Advantage has a problem with a moldy smell coming out of the drain when we take a shower. We had a similar problem with the sink, and a thorough cleaning right at the drain fixed it. In the shower, we cleaned out the strainer (which was pretty black underneath), but it only helped a little. I understand the trap is not right under the shower, and I wonder if it's moldy further down the pipe. I am very sure this is not a sewer smell from the holding tank, and the smell is definitely coming from the drain. Has anyone else had a similar problem? Thanks!Re: Portland OR to Heyburn State Park IDWe took the "long way" I-90 to 95 and it worked out great. And not much longer at all. Great advice. Thanks!Portland OR to Heyburn State Park IDI'll be going to Heyburn State Park, Hawley's Landing in Idaho from Portland OR (actually Ainsworth State Park) in my 36ft class A pusher with a toad. Should I approach Hawley's Landing from the north (Spokane, 27/278/58/95) or south (27/274/95)? Does it make any difference in road quality (width, excessive curves, climbs or descents)? Thanks!Missoula MT to Stanley IDI will be traveling from Missoula MT to Stanley ID in mid September with the goal of camping in Glacier View NF campground. Since Glacier doesn't take reservations at that time of year, I want to arrive early in the day. Normally, I stay at Walmarts close to my destination when I want to arrive early the next day. But there are no Walmarts (on ID 93/75). I see a private campground, but I'd rather not pay for services I don't need for one night. I'm looking for close to the highway, easy access, and low price within 1 - 3 hours of Stanley ID. I have a 36 foot motorhome. Suggestions would be appreciated!Re: Oscar Scherer SP, FLwhen I think of Oscar Scherer I think MOSQUITOS. It was awful when I was there a few years ago, sometime in late spring. You might want to ask before you commit.
