Even after removing the back spacers on the back axel of the truck, the truck was still a bit too high for the 5th wheel. Now I have about 7in clearance and the trailer is level. In actuallity, the trucks capibility probably deminishes by the extra mass of those same egos. They can tow a lot but they still can't carry much in the bed with the 4150 RAWR ;-)Re: F150 to F250, am I missing something? 4x4ord wrote: The ride of the F350 is identical to the F250 when unloaded. The only difference between the two trucks in 2011 was that the f350 got an overload spring that doesn't come into play until it is loaded and a spacer block to raise the back end a little. Thanks... my dealer is now trying to locate a black F350 XLT with 5th wheel prep and bucket seats. Will let you all know how it turns outRe: F150 to F250, am I missing something? rhagfo wrote: bmanning wrote: IronJoce wrote: Hi all, I currently own a 2012 F150 EB with MaxTow. On the official sticker my F150 has 1911lbs payload. I started shopping for an F250 (Powerstroke) and almost sign the papers last Friday. I stopped when I looked at the actual payload on the F250. It was only 2050lbs and was very very disappointed. The truck I´m looking at is an XLT, 4x4 with 6ft bed. It has a GVWR of 9900lbs (Canadian here so GVWR as to be 4500kg or under to be consider passenger vehicle but it is the very same truck as a truck with 10000 GVWR). My question is how come payload is so low? Should I worry about this or just overlook it and buy it anyway? I currently own a very light 5th wheel with low pin weight but was planning on upgrading next year. No way I will consider a F350 because it will be a pain to register here because it will not be consider as a passenger vehicle. Thanks for your input Second to last sentence: "NO WAY I WILL CONSIDER A F350 BECAUSE IT WILL BE A PAIN TO REGISTER HERE BECAUSE IT WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED AS A PASSENGER VEHICLE" Repeating it for you before you get 10 more "get the F350" replies :W LOL! :S Another page and a half, of those who don't read the entire post!! If you need to stay under 10,000# I would also suggest a 6.2 gas to get more payload as the diesel is about 500# heaver. I would assume that you are looking for stable tow. The other option is to do some investigation before buying the cost and issues with registering a truck over 10,000#. Is it a one time hassle, or is it a hassle each time and is it he hassle, or cost? From what I found yesterday night the hassle of registering an F350 is not as bad as I was thinking because it will be registered under my personal name. The only thing I will need is the official weight of the truck showing it is under 4000kg (8800lbs) so I can avoid registering like a truck. Coming from an EB that can tow at 1600RPM quietly and comfortably I will not consider a 6.2. I'm not rich but money is not the issue here. Thanks allRe: First tow with EcoboostI have towed my 7700lbs 5th wheel for over 8000 miles with my EB and I tried all the combinations possible in term of speed, locking gears and even tried shifting manually. I recently installed LT-E tires, run them at 70PSI and set the cruise at 60MPH. I get over 10MPG all the time. I have no turbo gauge so I don't know about PSI but this thing stays in 6th 95% of the time and this how I get the best mileage. This is a super quite and efficient engine for towing. I'm so spoiled now that the only thing I am considering next is a diesel... nothing else unless ford comes out with a 5.0L EB next week... ;-)Re: F150 to F250, am I missing something? fla-gypsy wrote: My F-250 has a payload just shy of 3k. It's all about the options. Well I know this but the options I want are heavy options... Powerstroke, 4x4, SuperCrew. So I guess I'm gonna start over and look at a F350Re: F150 to F250, am I missing something? Thanks all the input, I really appreciate. I wanted to get a 3/4 for registration reason but after spending the last hours researching about the laws here it looks like the 4500Kg GVWR doesn't apply if the vehicle is not register under a company name. In my case I do not need a truck for work so I could get a real 1 ton... I test drove a F250 and the ride quality is excellent when unloaded (this will be my daily driver so it is important). How does a F350 rides compare to a 250? Thanks againF150 to F250, am I missing something?Hi all, I currently own a 2012 F150 EB with MaxTow. On the official sticker my F150 has 1911lbs payload. Please advise as to pros and cons, and also how to outfit the tow rig as to powertrain, suspension (factory and aftermarket)products. Check the payload capacity of the truck you are looking at and compare it to the LOADED pin weight of the trailer plus occupants of the truck plus weight of the hitch plus any other "stuff" you load in the truck. Chances are MOST F150s are not going to have the PAYLOAD capacity for anything but the smallest fiver. As the tongue weight of a TT is a lot lower than the fiver pin weight, you can TOW a lot more TT than you can CARRY a fiver. x2 I do have a 30ft 5th wheel behind my F150 and I'm still within limit (even on RAWR and GVWR) so it is possible and safe when done properly. Unfortunately, most people don't do it the right way and will hook a 5th wheel with 1600lbs pin wheight in a truck that has 1250lbs payload. My truck has over 1900lbs payload and my pin is 1250lbs. I get it weighted religiously and frequently. I use to tow with a 2006 GM 2500HD with a 6.0L and my EB has WAY more power and keep speed a lot easier while getting similar MPG. During the winter and spring months here where i am its a lot of wear and tear on the trailer. Snow and rain constanly melting going in every crevise and crack and the freezing daily, especially when we get our chinooks. So lookin for people that actually owned one and what they though of them and how long do or should they last? I am going on vacation in through the states and would like to buy down there as it will be chaeper than Canada. Would also like to buy in Seattle if possible. No sales tax and near the end of my vacation so i dont have to keep tripping over the box on my vacation. Thanks all. Like you I'm from Canada and bought an Adco cover while in US. They work OK, provide excellent protection and unlike other covers, they wont damage the RV. The problem I have is the following. They do not last (at least not here, the is my 2nd one after 3 years) and when you have them installed, it is almost impossible to remove snow from the roof during winter without damaging it. But... I think they are worth it if you do not have to remove snow during winter season. I found a windy spot where I do not get much accumulation.
