Works much better and last lots longer.Re: Super Glide Hitch ownersThe older versions are welded. They did not come with bolts to attach. The ONLY way to attach the older models is to weld them in place.....Not everyone has the newer version of the current capture plate.Re: When to use the slider?Spend the money and get an auto slider.....then you don't have to worry about whether you should have or should not have used it......YOU WILL KNOW!!! If you needed it and did not use it.....IT WILL COST YOU.Re: Super Glide Hitch ownersHave the capture plate either tac or fully welded. We have had a pull rite hitch since 1994 and never had an issue on two different fifth wheels.Re: 50amp on RV, how to plug in at home?Although there are a lot of responses, I would suggest that you be extremely careful when having an electrician add a 50 AMP outlet at your house to plug your RV into. Many electricians, when they hear 50 AMP will install a house 50 AMP outlet. There is a difference btwn an RV 50 AMP v. House 50 AMP. A house 50 AMP will completely destroy your electronics when you plug in. A couple years ago, our friend had an electrician install a 50 AMP outlet in anticipation of buying a new MH. When they got the unit home, after their initial inspection and walk thru, all the appliances and outlets within the MH were friend when they plugged in. Not realizing the issue, they replaced all the effected items and had everything checked. Unfortunately, they again plugged the MH into the same outlet and got the same results. The RV company then told them to check the outlet and make sure they were wired for an RV 50 AMP v. a 50 AMP house set up. It cost them BIG BUCKS to learn a lesson.Trailer fire RECALLED ITEMJust before Christmas our 2010 Carriage Cameo Fifth Wheel sustained an electrical fire. The cause of the fire was determined to be a defective IOTA Automatic Transfer Switch located within the belly of the trailer. All the electrical power turned off and both the 50 AMP and GFI circuit breakers, transfer switch as well as the microwave/convection oven were toasted. Thankfully we were in the trailer when the MicroWave/Oven turned itself on and began arcing, and smoking with wires burning. When the repairs were made I found out the switch had been recalled (we were never notified)and was a fire hazard. The repairman said this is the most common cause for a fire in a trailer. The wires come loose and overheat. He suggested to annually check this switch to make sure connections are tight. All has been repaired and we are now fighting with the insurance company to be reimbursed.......Time will take care of that issue.:MRe: Picacho Peak RV Resort...We stayed at PALM CREEK RV RESORT in Casa Grande, AZ, right off I-10. 1800 sites with 18 hole executive golf course. One of the cleanist, best run facilities we have ever been in.........Lots of pools, pickleball courts, etc. All sites have a palm tree and cement patio................:BRe: Hard to pull release handleAlthough I have a different hitch (Super Glide slider) I find that the unlatching process is ALWAYS harder if the truck and unit are not perfectly aligned with each other. The more the trailer is turned, the harder the handle is to pull to unhook. Just something to think about.:WRe: daynight shades instructionsGo to your RV dealer and buy a restringing kit............Online restringing instructions are available and explained similarly but you will still need the plastic inserts, string, and possibly new springs, to complete the job, all of which come in a kit along with a video that covers restringing all the various types of day/night shades. It takes close to 2 hours for the larger shades but is easy if you follow the directions carefully. After re-strining 4 different shades in our 2010 Cameo, I have vowed to never again purchase these shades. Next one that breaks (the strings rub against the plastic ferules and shred) and I plan to replace them with regular curtains and /or blinds......Re: What type of camp chairs? If you need a camp chair that is really heavy duty (rated for over 300 pounds) try the one made by ALPS.......
