Thanks for the help!!Looking for a recipe for Brown Betty cookiesI have been unsuccessfully looking for a recipe for these awesome cookies for years. Anytime we are anywhere near Cedar Rapids, IA we hop over to the Amana Colonies and get these at a bakery there. My husband loves them and I have been looking for a recipe so I can make them for him. They are chocolate cake type cookies with nuts and dates with a layer of chocolate icing on top. i would appreciate it if someone out there has a recipe for these!!Re: Reese Revolution HitchIn addition to not hitting the back of the truck on sharp turns you can actually hitch up sideways. We have had to do this several times when people park mostly in the road in front of our fifth wheel and we are ready to leave. We just turn the pin the direction we can get to it and hook up.Snapped leaf springWe pulled in Fort Stockton to rest up on our way to Big Bend National Park. We attempted to level the fifth wheel with our set of Anderson levelers (love these by the way!!) but couldn't get one of the levelers between the wheels. Perplexed and tired we gave up and turned in. The next morning we looked under the trailer and saw a leaf spring hanging down. It had literally snapped. So, if you ever find yourself stranded in Fort Stockton Texas I highly recommend Century trailer, right off highway 10. We went ahead and had them replace both springs on that axle. They inspected the other set and said they were fine. Not sure when it snapped but we were told that a lot of people don't notice it until their tires are rubbing together. We may not have if we had not tried to level it.Re: Front electric jack making noise, any advice?Just wanted to follow up on this. We ended up having the gears/leg replaced. The gears were stripped. Works great now..... We also painted a line on the front jacks so we would have a visual clue to not retract them too far.Re: Landing gear maintenance and rebuild questionsWe had the same issue, ending up getting the leg replaced. Not knowing any better we would retract the legs until it cluncked...The gears were all eaten up. To keep it from happening again we painted lines so we stop retracting the legs 2" early. Ours did fail BTW, we could not get it off the truck. The passenger side leg lifted but the drivers side did not.Re: LED Strip Light addition -- battery power?I wired our LED light strip straight into the porch light and replaced the bulb in the porch light with an LED bulb. I drilled a small hole into the side of the light to run the wires through. Instead of using wire nuts I soldered the new wires to metal prongs on the back of the socket where the fixture's wires attach. It only took me about 30 minutes including mounting the LED strip under the awning. Works great!Re: Front electric jack making noise, any advice?Oh, and it started doing it before any weight was put on it.Front electric jack making noise, any advice? We have a 2012 Cougar High Country and when we parked it yesterday the drivers side front electric jack was making noise when we extended it to remove the trailer from the truck. It was a clunking noise. The passenger side is normal. Any ideas or what should I be checking? Any advice is appreciated!!Re: looking for best 5th wheel for 1/2 ton pickupWe pulled a Cougar High Country 246RLS all over the country with our 1/2 ton Dodge with no problems for two years. We did add air bags to level the truck out better after the first year. The added bonus of a Reese sidewinder pin allowed us to be able to maneuver the trailer well. If we could turn the truck around we could turn the trailer around. We now have a 3/4 ton Dodge and it doesn't even notice that the trailer is there. In fact, we had to lower the receiver down as far as it would go so the trailer did not sit nose up as bad. It is still a little nose up though....pretty stiff suspension I guess.
