All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRV Paint Protectant.I’d like to thank everyone that replied to my tread about appropriate TV and Jayco quality. I now have a 2019 GMC 3500 DRW Denali, and a 2020 Jayco North Point 375BHFS on the way. This is the first coach I’ve had built and only the second one I’ve owned. My new question is in regards to paint treatment from the dealer. Is it worth the cost? And does it help with the gel coat fading and becoming chalky? Thank you.Re: Duramax L5P Fuel MileageWhat’s it getting when not towing?Duramax L5P Fuel MileageAnyone have any real world experience with the fuel economy of the new GM L5P Duramax in a 3500 DRW?Re: AUXILiARY FUEL TANKI know this is an older thread, but wanted to push out some info on this. Keep in mind that some States don’t allow for an in bed auxiliary tank to be tied into the fuel system. Texas is one of those States. I know there are plenty of shops that are happy to do it for you, but it’s not legal. With that being said, most officers in Texas are not aware of this law. I have been in law enforcement for nearly 20 years and never knew that, or really had a reason to look. I found out from an Agent with the Comptrollers Office. If you don’t know who they are, ther are the revenuers that keep you from importing goods from low sales tax states into Texas. So, you may find some State Troopers that are aware of this law, but most local and county officers have no clue.Re: Jayco quality?@jdb7566. Leaving trash behind is common among all construction trades. I was an assistant superintendent for a builder. That was my pet peeve, I made all trades clean up their mess, If i caught them urinating in a unit (more common than anyone wants to know) I terminated them no questions asked. Even in my own house I found beer cans stuffed in the bathtub frame when I had to replace the whirlpool motor. I get that those things happen, shouldn’t, but they do. I can excuse messyness that doesn’t compromise quality, but I cannot excuse poor workmanship.Jayco quality?I posted yesterday that I’m looking at picking up a Jayco North Point 5er. I’ve found some fairly harsh reviews of them online. Have they really gone drastically down in quality since Thor bought out Jayco? There are just too many variables for me to answer that question on my own, without actually owning one. Obviously any company can have a bad product slip past QC. I tend to think that many negative reviews are from people with unrealistic expectations. I have rarely had a trip that I didn’t have to fix something on my Keystone Sprinter when I got home. To me repairs are just the nature of having a 5er, and catastrophic failures are mostly from poor user maintenance. Anyone have opinions on Jayco quality?Stackable washers and dryerI posted earlier that I’m upgrading to a larger 5er. The model I’m looking at has stackable washer and dryer prep. Are they worth the $1400 for the pair? Everything I’ve read suggests that stackable work reasonably well, but combo units are terrible. Thanks.Re: Inverter GeneratorThat 4000 watt Champion looks good for the $$$. I appreciate everyone taking the time to respond.Inverter GeneratorI’m looking at a Firman WH02942 dual fuel inverter 3200/2900 watt generator for use with a 50 amp 5er. I’m looking for just enough power to run 1 ac and some lights, yet be light enough to easily move. Anyone have any experience with Firman?Re: Appropriate TVI appreciate everyone’s input. I guess I know what I need to do. Luckily my Ford is still worth quite a bit, and I found a good deal on a 1 ton DRW.
