After that we plan on picking up 24 to Hannibal and 36 across to Denver. We prefer to avoid major highways and big cities. Open to all suggestions with great appreciation.going east avoiding Birmingham Al to NE of AtlantaWe'll be on 82 east out of Eldorado, AR going to Cleveland, GA which is northeast of Atlanta.want to avoid Birmingham and Atlanta as much as possible. We've done pretty well avoiding major routes and cities from Arizona so far and would like to continue in that manner. Google maps suggests either going north at Columbus, MS to pick up 278 across or going south through Tuscaloosa and going south under Birmingham on 11 to 280 to 144 and then up to meet 278. Both are about 360 miles and we plan to do it in 2 days. Which has less traffic, better roads?Re: Magnum stand alone AGS questionBINGO! TIME2ROLL, we had the start temp set to 75 but the air off. I just turned the start temp to off and enabled the AGS and this time the green light stayed on but the generator didn't turn on. The setting for low voltage goes from 10 to 12 vdc so thought we could go on the low side but I guess we better increase that to 12? So much to learn and we appreciate all the help from you seasoned rvers.Re: Our first rv/motorhome and so many questions!!Thank you everyone!. This makes me feel so much better about the propane. Now I can relax and enjoy.Magnum stand alone AGS questionHi. I asked this in another section but nobody seemed to know anything about it. We have a factory installed Magnum AGS stand alone system in our 2017 Jayco Precept. with a 5500 gas Onan generator. I think I understand how the AGS is supposed to work and have set the limit at 10.5 volts, but when we enable it, even though we know the batteries are at full charge, the generator comes right on and doesn't shut off. Shouldn't it just stay enabled and only come on when the 2 house batteries drop to the 10.5 level? Our first rv/motorhome and so many questions!!My husband is a seat of the pants type guy but I am very anxious about our first long trip in our new motorhome. There is so much I feel that I don't know about the workings of our coach. I keep reading that running the fridge on propane while driving is a no no but can the refer be run off the inverter while traveling? We have a 12 cu ft Norcold and a 1000 watt pure sine inverter. If not, what can you do instead of the propane? Also, we have a Magnum AGS stand alone system with a 5500 gas Onan generator. I think I understand how the AGS is supposed to work and have set the limit at 10.5 volts, but when we enable it, even though we know the batteries are at full charge, the generator comes right on and doesn't shut off. These are my 2 main concerns at this moment and will appreciate any insight from those with more experience.Need for pads/blocks with hydrolic levelers? We have a 33 ft Jayco Precept class A with hydrolic levelers and will be making our first long trip cross country. We will be boondocking a good share of the way. Should we have a set of jack pads and/or camco blocks with us? Just pads or both? And, should the coach always be leveled before opening any slides? Thanks for any input :-)Re: Caprock Canyons & lake arrowhead state parks in texasThanks for the tip about the texas pass but we will only be staying a couple/3 nights in texas on our way through.Caprock Canyons & lake arrowhead state parks in texasLooking for thoughts about both state parks. Easy access, if you've stayed, there, etc. Traveling through texas in May with class a 33 ft MH and 2 medium size dogs. Any other camping suggestion welcome. We want to keep north of Dallas.:)First long trip, AZ to FL route helpWe are planning our first long trip in our new 32' class A motorhome starting May 1 traveling with 2 medium sized dogs. Right now we are looking at going I40 out of AZ to NM, pick up US84 out of Santa Rosa NM to US86. Go across US86 to US 287 down through Witchita Falls and then pick up US 82 to at least Texarkana TX. After that I am not sure but we want to end up on I10 avoiding major city congestions. Our final destination will be St Petersburg FL. We have no time constraints and would like to take in some sights along the way. Any suggestions or alternate routes will be appreciatedl from seasoned travelors. We'd like to do a fair amount of boonedocking and plan on only driving 2 - 300 miles/day. Thanks in advance. :-)
