Greatly appreciated...Highway Safety RatingsWe are in the early stages of shopping for our first class A motorhome. Where can I find the highway safety ratings for motorhomes? Thank you in advance for your help. ChristianRe: My new truck has arrived !Beautiful!Re: Walking on TT roofI remember reading that laying a 2x10 or 2x12 (10'-12' in length) across the trailer and then using that as a catwalk will work well....that as long as it is longer than the width of your trailer, the walls will support the weight. I tried that method on an older TT I had and felt very comfortable. ChristianRe: Oven Won't Stay Lit sstan wrote: I have a Smev range in my truck camper. It uses piezo spark ignition for the burners and oven. I'm having a problem now with the oven staying lit. It lights fine when holding the knob in but goes out as soon as I release it. I just tried installing a new thermocouple but the problem remains. Any ideas? Thanks, Steve I know this sounds simple, so please know I mean no offense. When you hold the knob in and light it, do you continue to hold it in for a short while....maybe 15-20 seconds??? If you release the knob at the very second it lights, it will almost always go out. Just a thought... ChristianRe: Can I use travel trailer while still coupled to tow vehicle? Sometimes I drop the jacks and sometimes I don't, just depends. I always follow the same routine when we are getting ready to get underway regardless if we've stopped for a night, or a week. If we unhitch or not, I do the same routine. This includes checking that vents are closed, doors inside are latched and fastened, hot water heater is off, stove vent is closed and latched, etc. etc. etc. I don't chat on the phone, I don't chat with the neighbor, and if I'm interrupted I start over. So far, works for us.... ...a very wise method. I will do the same. Thanks!Re: Can I use travel trailer while still coupled to tow vehicle? It's an easy thing to overlook/forget, especially if nothing else about the hitchup needs attention. Shoot... I'm a checklist MASTER! :B Thank you!Re: Can I use travel trailer while still coupled to tow vehicle? Thanks so much for all of the input!!! I'm relieved! I didn't think about disconnecting the pigtail; great information to have. I am definitely a "better safe than sorry" kind of guy, so I'll do it for sure. Again... Thank you! ChristianCan I use travel trailer while still coupled to tow vehicle? We're looking to hit the open road with our travel trailer. Is it okay to spend the night in our travel trailer while still hooked up to the truck? I'm thinking in terms of random stops for 6-8 hours to eat and get some sleep. Obviously, I don't want to cause any damage to the trailer or the truck. I have a weight distribution hitch and sway bar, FYI. Thanks in advance for your input.
