All ActivityMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsVery good experenceToday, on I95 in Maine our F-350 with camper in tow, ran off the road for reasons I won't go into. We ended up in a ditch, in the mud, with no hope of driving out. Called roadside assistance and, long story short, a tow truck was on the scene and we were expertly winched out with no damage to either the truck or the camper. Total down time was less almost exactly 1 1/2 hours. The GS operator was great and the tow driver knew what he was doing. Thanks, Good Sam!! We couldn't be happier!!Re: Good Sam / Pilot Flying J card discounts wa8yxm wrote: At Flying-J you should be using the RV pumps.. if you can't get into them then the AUTO pumps... As someone pointed out up-thread tax rates are often different on cars and semi trucks and there are other reasons to use the proper pump as well. The pump may be set to only allow one discount at a time. Most, if not all, Pilots and some Flying J's (like Frystown PA) don't have RV lanes so it's auto or truck. I am amazed that the Frystown station was completely revamped in the last year or so and no RV lane was included.Re: Good Sam / Pilot Flying J card discountsI just got a call from Pilot customer service. They will credit my account for the extra discount. The young lady seemed to think the lack of the Good Sam discount might have to do with the fact that what I purchased was "auto diesel" AKA from the car pumps and not the truck lanes. That's what I've always used so if that is a policy change, it's a new one and $.05 a gallon isn't worth the hassle and long waits at the truck lanes, at least at my local Pilot. There are usually at least 3 or 4 trucks at each lane whenever I go.Re: Good Sam / Pilot Flying J card discounts dalmationlovers wrote: Then just send them and email and try to find out what happened. Have you checked to see if something changed on the discount policy. Sent the e-mail last evening. As far as I can tell from both the GS and P/FJ web sites the discounts haven't changed. This is what happens when you retire...too much time on my hands! ;)Re: Good Sam / Pilot Flying J card discounts accsys wrote: I don't believe you get the Good Sam discount unless you are using the Good Sam charge card. You didn't say what card you were using. If you just use the Flying J loyalty card with another charge card, you only get .03 per gallon discount. Yes, it was the Good Sam charge card. I've used that station many times and always got the discounts. I agree it's hardly worth the trouble for $2.50, but it's the principal of the thing!Good Sam / Pilot Flying J card discountsOk before anyone says it, I know I should have checked my receipt before leaving the station. That said, last week I fueled up at a Flying J a good distance from home, to the tune of 53 gallons. When I got home and checked the receipt I saw that the 3 cent loyalty discount was applied the charge, but not the 5 cent Good Sam discount. I sent off an e-mail to Pilot but haven't heard back. Just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced anything like this. I guess this is a cautionary tale about always checking the receipt before pulling away!! :oRe: Feeling really foolish!I've had a bed saver on since 2006. It only got used once, but once is enough. Paid for itself right there and then! :)
