Adventures in our Keystone
Hi all! I am new to the community but wanted to share about our first real adventure with friends! We took our Keystone Cougar to the great state of Arizona and it was an absolute blast! Cruising through the Arizona desert and winding roads felt like a real-life adventure especially cause we have spent our whole lives in the Midwest! Let me tell you the Grand Canyon and Sedona did not disappoint! Evenings were all about campfires, stargazing, and swapping stories with fellow road warriors. Honestly, this RV trip was less of a vacation and more of a wild ride through the heart of the Southwest. I can tell you this will not be our last trip to Arizona. Any suggestions on where we should head to next? Darcey really wants to continue into southern California!2.1KViews2likes12CommentsDry tongue weight versus fully loaded
Hello, I’m wondering if there is an estimated percentage increase in fully loaded tongue weight of a fifth wheel trailer when appropriately loaded to capacity, versus the factory listed dry tongue weight? for example, the trailer I’m looking at purchasing has a listed dry tongue, weight of 1930 pounds. The maximum trailer gross vehicle weight is 12,000 pounds. The trailers carrying capacity for cargo fluids, etc. is 3239 pounds. I’m trying to make sure the truck I would choose for fifth wheel can accommodate the fully loaded tongue weight. Is there a way to estimate the increase in tongue weight when the trailer is fully loaded to get a reasonable approximation? Some good technical input would be appreciated. My husband and I full timed for 5 years in a 34' Cougar and loved it. When we finally planted, we tried a TT with sway bars for all of about 2-3 trips and hated it. We're now looking at a Arctic Fox 29-5K fifth wheel for more elbow room. Before we take the plunge, has anything improved in travel trailer towing?973Views1like9Comments
