Sales Tax
Hello, having a weird edge case situation on paying sales tax on new to me TT. TL;DR Sales tax was charged on a casual sale of used TT from non business living trust to me. Tag office cites non existent laws that all trusts are entities thus all are business/dealers. I plan to appeal to GA DOR and or Tribunal as its ridiculous. I am in GA. Trailer was sold to me by a living trust that for legal sake did not engage in any business nor held the TT for commercial reasons and it was stipulated on the BOS. The tag office has slapped me with a big sales tax(few thousand as its a quality TT) as trust = entity = dealer. Note this isnt TAVT but specifically a sales tax on a trailer. What im struggling with is that you cant just blanket call all trusts a "dealer" and skirt the whole casual sale exemption as for all intents and purposes thats what it was. Georgia law is very clear on its definition of a "dealer/business" and this is not it. I cant find any Georgia law that also blanket cover all "entities or trusts" as dealers. Only thing I see that sales tax only applies if the sale of tangible property was done by an entity engaged in business which this living trust isnt. I wanted to post here to see if people ever tried to appeal similar or exact situation because this situation simply ludicrous. If folks are experienced with GA law ill take specific statutes that either support or take apart my case.164Views0likes9Comments50 amp outlet/surge protector voltage error
First time, I apologize for the long post. I hope I can get some insight, because I am completely lost. I have an outlying shop that I installed a 50 amp outlet to using a 50 amp box with 6/3 copper wire. Testing it with a multimeter I get 120 on each leg and 240 combined, as well as 120 from the main breaker and 50 amp breaker. However, when I plug in my 50 amp surge protector it shows an error of "E2: Voltage over 132V". The weird thing is, when I plug my protector into a 50/30 dog bone with the 15 adapter the surge protector turns on with no issue showing 119V so I dont believe it's the protector. Any suggestions would be appreciated because after checking and changing neutrals and grounds and checking the same things over and over, I have no idea the next step and I really dont want to spend thousands having a company wire something in. TIA. For context I have a new GEARGO RV-04 50 amp surge protector.139Views1like8CommentsIdentify water heater
Looking at a used 2010 K-Z trailer. The owner passed away and his family is trying to sell it. But the owner's son and I couldn't get the water heater to work. Can anyone tell me where I could find information on this water heater and how to operate it? Thanks235Views1like9Comments12 volt does'nt work
i have a 2022 Forest River Flagstaff 21FBRS travel trailer. In 4 years we never had an issue until now. On our last trip, our 12 volt system stopped working (fridge, slide outs, lights, etc.). I made sure that the the battery disconnect switch was on. I checked circuit breakers. All okay. Once we got to our destination and plugged into shore power, everything worked. When we got back home I had the batteries checked. They were bad, so I bought new batteries. Still no 12 volt working. So I assume the problem is somewhere between the batteries and the the inside of the trailer. By the way, I tried the electric jack using only battery power and it works just fine. But I guess that is because it is directly connected to the batteries. Any suggestions on trouble shooting before I take it back to the dealer (which charges $165 per hour).68Views1like4CommentsTrouble turning my RV
Hello my name is Jazmin, my family and I just bought a 2007 Arctic Fox 990 “Silver Fox Edition’’ we bought it from a local family. Everything from the inside is in good condition, we struggle to learn how to use all the appliances because they didn’t have the manual book that comes with all the information. Right now we’re struggling on the switch to turn on the generator!! We try it few times and yes it turned on perfectly but today we did the game thing ( press the start button and push the little butterfly)it made a sound like it was about to turn on but then it stopped. It didn’t work at all! , I have looked everywhere( on the internet) to see if I can find a way to give us tips or show us what to do. Our general is Onan 2500 camp power, can anyone recommend any good resources that would help us with this situation!! I hope my message makes sense Thank you235Views1like11CommentsJayco 260BHW No Power w/ Battery, Shore or Vehicle connection.
Just bought a new Jayco 260BHW last year and everything worked fine. Brought it out of storage today and have no power to the unit. Tried connecting to shore power with no luck. Jack works fine. Battery was stored in the house and it measures good. I don't think there's a main power switch to kill everything, in that I disconnect the negative terminal on the battery after every camping trip last year. Checked breakers, fuses in panel under the fridge, but can't figure what's going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.72Views0likes3Comments- 793Views0likes8Comments
