1983 GMC 23' Shasta Mini Motorhome
I have so many questions about this motorhome and life on the road. This is the beginning. Back in the early 90s, I was living on/off in a VW Transporter II Westfalia poptop. Here I am again, only this time, incredibly more prepared for knowledge and wisdom as a human. This vehicle was in my immediate budget of $2500. I will have access to mechanics tools and a place to work on it while preparing it for safe, securely maintained life on the road. *grateful I am searching for more information and knowledge shares from other professional enthusiasts to put this motorhome on the right track. The current owner over the last 2 years were a mechanic and his wife + 2 children. He has the engine purring, insulated the ceiling inside except the bathroom, new tires and spare, freshly sealed the outside. The refrigerator is toast, the generator is toast. Until I have the vehicle in my possession, I only have this information and took a test drive yesterday. My idea is to update this efficiently and as eco-friendly as possible. It is 43 years old and I want to treat it kindly, take care of it. Any tips will help me do this from experienced peoples such as yourselves. Thank you. xo141Views0likes5CommentsWant to tow
I have a 2024 Gulf Stream class C motorhome on a Ford E450 cutaway chassis and I want to tow our Jeep with us on long trips. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any help with determining which is the right/best receiver hitch to use or where to have it installed. Getting a tow bear for the Jeep itself isn't the issue - I need help with making the necessary modifications to my motorhome. Can anyone shed some light on this?205Views0likes11CommentsDrive Train Repair Portland Metro area
I'm looking for some where that can do some work on my 2007 Four Winds Majestic i just bought. Driving it i feel like I'm floating all over and i would like to update the suspension, new Sway bar ETC. I am finding NO ONE in the area that does this work. Camping world has still yet to return my call. RV county says they have a 10 year limit(this is crazy btw). can anyone point me in a good direction? maybe a shop you have used? Even other types of places i should call like heavy equipment mechanic shops? Thank, Mike106Views0likes1CommentAwning issue
OK.... My wife and I are brand new to the RV world, but have camped in tents all over the USA. I can still feel the rocks in my back!! We have purchased a 2009 Majestic 19foot Class C motorhome (Ford F-350)...used, with 180000 miles on it. My wife and I would like to put an awning on it, but so far I have been unable to find one that fits this size RV. However, I am not sure if I am looking at the correct products online that might fit our RV. Please let me know if there is an awning company that makes one for this RV. I have been told that there are not any. Thanks,822Views0likes4CommentsHow structural are the plywood panels in cabinets?
I am struggling with attempting to reconnect the PEX plumbing pipe to one check valve on the water heater in my 2007 Itasca Navion. Access is through the removable floor in the pantry next to the fridge, which pantry is just wide enough for me to reach one arm in. The PEX could have been a little longer, and I can't get the threaded fitting to align with the threads on the check valve. IF I could reach in with my other arm, I might be able to push the PEX around to align the nut. 45 minutes of getting nowhere has me considering alternatives. Below the pantry, the face of the cabinet is 1/8" plywood, glued to 1x2 framing, with nothing behind it but space. The left side of the pantry is plywood hiding the side of the fridge; the right side is a wall (of similarly robust 1x2 framing). I am wondering if I can cut an access hatch below the pantry, framed all around with more 1x2s glued and pocket-screwed to the existing framing, that might allow me to reach in with both arms. But I don't know if I'm weakening the cabinet. I'd cover the access with 1/4" baltic birch plywood stained to more or less match the finished cabinet, with as many screws as I needed to attach it firmly. Am I endangering the stability of that cabinet?1.1KViews0likes6CommentsVinyl Carefree awning stains
We have a 2023 Winnebago View. On a recent trip, there were a flock of sea gulls in the RV park that did a number on all coaches, including ours. Got the sides cleaned up. When we got home, I put out the awning and discovered that it had a lot of poop on it and when it rolled up it got on the underside of the awning and stained it. I've tried a few different cleaners to no avail. Does any one have any suggestions on how to get rid of the poop stains on the vinyl???643Views0likes2CommentsPex to pipe thread transition
The water heater in my 2007 Itasca Navion has brass check valves in and out, with 1/2" pipe thread. The plumbing is mainly PEX, and the PEX seals to the check valves with a conical plastic gasket, held in place by a nut that threads on. There's no need to put pipe tape on the check valve threads, is there?720Views0likes3Comments'03 4 Winds 5000 21RB Chevy chassis 79k mi. what's it worth?
Greetings, I was wondering what it might be worth? Anyone have an idea? There is a minor roof leak above the shower where the skylight is - its common I hear. I usually use some self-leveling compound in spring to seal it up. Anyway It has almost new load range E tires, and the engine and chassis are in great shape...all it needs today is a new house battery - generator works. Its on the Chevy express 3500 van chassis, floor plan is the one with closet and bathroom in the rear. Anyone have an idea as to what it's worth? I'm in Michigan.1.3KViews0likes8Comments
