- PipemanExplorerrelaxin I can relate to that. When I was a young lad, I was stopped and asked by an American who just crossed over into Canada. I live in a border City. They asked how to get to the 401 as they wanted to go to Montreal for the day and then return home. Just saying.......It's more than an eight hour trip to Montreal from here.

Where is the R in Washington?
A waiter in Key Largo one time asked where we were from. I said Prince George British Columbia, nothing. I then said about the center of BC, still nothing. So then to give him a better idea I said near Alaska and he said, why.
Now there is a huge difference between the cultures. The average Canadian's knowledge of world geography is usually far better than his southern neighbour counterpart who usually has little knowledge of what is where outside of the US.
Had to smile while watching 'world' news on the local news station. Every story was a US story. Not a one about anywhere outside the US.
thats like the family that crossed the boarder up by brockville, apearently around 2 pm, they were going to spend the afternoon in T O then head over to the falls and spend the night and next day there, then planned to drive to calgary for the stampede then to vancouver, all in 3 days.
or the other group that came accross in Niagara falls, with skies strapped to the roof, they were coming north to do some ski-ing,,,, in june. - VeebyesExplorer II

Never did winterize our RV when we lived on Vancouver Island.
Now we do so at the end of September.
Then we de-summerize the snowmobiles next ... :B
Last fall we bought our motorhome had a massive yard sale & headed for the coast. We have been living in it since, wintering again this winter on the island. I miss the snow & the bluebird days snowmobiling above the clouds near Revelstoke BC our once hometown. The island is wet gray & most people out here are pale & sneezing all winter it seems.
Our heating cost last winter was surprisingly low and nothing came even close to freezing. An oil filled electric heater on medium with the furnace occasionally kicking on and 2 warm ****zus kept us cozy. But the rain never let up. - JaxDadExplorer III

Now if that were so, would that not make Canadians Americans too. And how about the Mexicans? Mexico is part of N America too. Logically that also makes Mexicans Americans too.
Oh my. Confusion.
The country is known as the United States of America. What does that make its citizens? United Statians? United Statees?
Things that make you go Hmmmmmmmmm. - Little_KopitExplorerWell, I live in N. America.
Thus, I don't call residents of the USA or residents of The States anything other than those two.
I got that choice of words from a citizen of said country.
