- Parrothead_MikeExplorerWe took a short week long trip last October (2 nights at each area). Stopped near Lexington, KY to attend horse races at Keeneland. KY Horse Park was full so we camped at another place just north of Georgetown called Whispering ?something?. From there we went southeasterly through Pikeville, KY and on into Virginia to Big Stone Gap, VA. You're in the middle of Appalachia here. The Jessie Lea Campground is excellent. They had free mountain music the Saturday we were there. It's a small campground, but well taken care of and the owner is super nice.

From Big Stone Gap we went north through West VA into Ohio - Holmes County and the Amish area there. As previously mentioned, this area has some interesting shops. On Wednesdays they have a big auction and flea market in some small town (can't recall it just now) north of Berlin. We also camped at Scenic Hills CG in Berlin. - Dandy_DanExplorerIf you like Amish culture, Holmes county is one of the largest communities of Amish in the country. Berlin, Walnut Creek, Charm, just to name a few towns. We have been there many times and really enjoy it. There is a campgrounds close to Winesburg called Amish Family Campground that we like as it is quiet and reasonable and clean. Run by Mennonite couple who are very nice. I think last time it was $25-27/nite. Water and electric only with dump station. If you want something a little closer to the middle of things, Scenic Hills in Berlin has full hookups and is fairly nice. We camped in the bottom level and really enjoyed it. Good LUck and Happy Camping.
- littleluck55ExplorerI am from Cincinnati and planning a week long trip to Stonewall Resort SP in West Virginia. I hear all the WV resort state parks are very nice so you could hit any of them in about 4-7 hours from cincinnati.

- Jim_ShoeExplorer IIDon't know if you're a native Cincinnatian or not, but if you ever decide to do a "stay-cation", check out the Brewery tour. Cincinnati was settled in part by Germans that lived and built their breweries north of what is now Central Parkway, but used to be Central Canal. Hence, "Over the Rhine" district. The hills along Central Parkway are peppered with caves carved deep into the hill to keep the beer cold before refrigeration existed.
In my college days, there were seven local breweries in town and they had a big local audience. I certainly did my part. :) - METZCOOLExplorerHocking Hills for sure.
