- TequilaExplorerReading about it in Aussie press it seems to indicate they were driving at night and possibly headed off the road to boondock in an area known to be frequented by cartels. They were observed buying amap at an all night convienience store in Los Mochis which indicates they were traveling after dark. I wonder if they stumbled into something they were not supposed to see, or on the other hand they may have cooked something inside the van, overcome with fumes, then a fire. All speculation, but driving at night in remote areas is not particulary advisable.

The posters here are very cold hearted. 2 young people were killed and now Tequila is questioning their morals. Shame on you. These are someone's children. Show some compassion. I might also add that the fact others have been killed all over the world has nothing to do with this incident.

I did not start the topic. I simply pointed out the usual reaction to it, which ignores the facts that travelers get killed all over the world. Last year 900 Australians were killed abroad by some means or another, the country actually has the highest rate of tourism deaths in the world. Maybe it has a lot with risky lifestyles, don't you think. I have relatives in Austarlia and friends in Australia. In my experience Australians on the whole tend to more of risk takers than most. - navegatorExplorerFact....van found completely burnt
Fact....van similar to one used by Australians
Fact....no license plates on van
Fact....two bodies to badly burnt for recognition
So far that is the only facts known all the rest is speculation, girlfriends are in Mexico aiding with the DNA test, so far that is all, lets keep this civil until the truth comes out.
navegator - qtla9111NomadOkay, I jumped the gun. So far it is a burned out van with two bodies inside. I guess I should wait for the decision.
- briansueExplorerHas anyone read an article stating a crime was committed? Did they say they were murdered? Did they say they were shot? I did not see that article. I have known of campers who ran their engine to keep warm and died of fumes. Those old Coleman heaters could kill by using up all the oxygen. Are there specific details or is this speculation? Do we have facts or is speculation being presented as fact as we see so often in the media these days? Does anyone have answers or sources of answers? Where are the facts?
- qtla9111NomadMurder is a fact of life. It happens everywhere and no one who reads this is exempt from knowing someone be it a relative, coworker, neighbor who has been a victim. Murder knows no boundaries. It has been going on for thousands of years and is part of the human condition. You don't need to be crazy to kill someone.
In fact, you don't even need a reason or a weapon other than your bare hands. - moishehExplorerThe posters here are very cold hearted. 2 young people were killed and now Tequila is questioning their morals. Moisheh - Wm_ElliotExplorerThree young people were shot and then driven to an out of the way place and the rental car burned with the bodies inside - 5 miles from my home in Bangor Maine.
- TequilaExplorerBefore this heads where I suspect it will, I should point out that 5 Australians were murdered in the US in 2014 & one 5 days ago. Maybe that should be posted in the RVing in the USA section. It is equally as relevant.

Hate to dayit, but surfers tend to engagein risky behaviour. Mind you they coudl have just as easly set their own rig on fire from the description of what they had in there. Guess we have to wait see if its foul play.
2 charred bodies in the van. License plates missing, making identification slow. per mexico newspapers yesterday. and yes, what they were doing was risky at best and dumb in general, most anywhere in the world.
