Stayed in Bandon RV, mistake!! Price was good but soooo close together and small. Bandon by the SEa and Bullar BEach STate Park looked the best, would try there, but yes, reservations a must!

Bullards Beach SP is a good place to stay around Bandon and also...Oceanside RV Park in Charleston....just west of Coos Bay.

  • We just left Seven Feathers in Canyonville. Did a day trip to Bandon. Be sure you have reservations in Oregon. RV'ers are out big time!
  • October on in Oregon is guaranteed to be rain. Especially on the coast. Central and eastern Oregon can be down right cold over night. Right now we have 50's and rain in Bend area.
  • Thanks for the help. After Coos we are headed to San Francisco. Going to take 101 down. Sucks hearing about the rain.
  • When I ask Google Maps for SLC to Coos Bay, the first 2 choices it gives us NV/OR 140. The third is I84/US20. I80 to Reno and US395 etc to I5 (by dragging a point) adds an hour or so to the drive. Since we are talking about a 15 hr, that hour doesn't make much difference.

So the shortest uses hwy 140, which is one of the more remote highways in the States (with a long stretch without gas). It's not a difficult road, though there is one rim drop near the state border that might scare some drivers (and delight hang gliders).
  • You can take I 80 to Reno, NV and head north on 395 to 36 to 44 to 89 and then get onto I-5 north across the Oregon border, and then continue on to rt 42 near Roseburg and go West to Coos Bay. You'll run into 101 just a little south of Coos Bay. Just came that way, beautiful drive. a little road construction on rt 42 but doable. Enjoy!
  • I84 into Oregon hwy 20 or 26 from Ontario to the coast. To avoid Portland mess at Prineville take 126 to Sisters and 20 to the coast. You really picked the wrong time of the year to visit. Heavy rain us forecast for the next 10 days or so.
  • I don't understand the reference to California if Coos Bay is your destination. My suggestion - at Salt Lake city/ Ogden area switch ti I 84 across Idaho. At Ontario OR take US 20/126 across to Eugene OR then 126 to 101 and south to Coos Bay. All of these are preety easy pulls for you and your friends.
