Looks inviting to head south again, into Mexico. Being Canadian, we don't get a lot of advantage Americans get from their strong US dollar, but the Loonie is better than when we used to spend every winter in Mexico. Other downsides to our traveling into the country, are the higher cost of fuel than before, the insistence of Mexican RV managers to charge in US dollars, the raise in toll charges, and the continued reduction of access to Mexican beaches. That last item directly ended our trips. The fences going up around pristine beaches, that came with the burning of the usual palapa restaurents - with the reason being circulated that the beach had been sold and hotels would be built within the next 20 years...you just had to shake your head.
The headlong drive to get beach access limited to a tiny segment of visitors -and leaving even their own people completely out in the process always included RV'ers. Beyond these reasons is the underlying suspicion that those in control are telling government how things need to get done. Money up front and preferential treatment will follow, which in some instances leads to State armed riot police raiding a beach and forcibly evicting every single person from the beach, confiscating or destroying all belongings found at the beach. That included the land, buildings, everything. Deeds to show land belonged to owners, under the signature of the President of Mexico, were thrown to the wind. Properties might be bulldozed or burned. Palapa restaurants that had been in business for half a century were burned leaving private security forces in chanrge of keeping everyone off the beach, including anybody wanting to arrive by boat.
