Does anyone know of a list of RV related words in Spanish? I have been getting some speaking practice on Italki and when I want to talk about something and don't know it I look it up. I haven't been able to find a good list for RVing words however and when I do look something up I'm usually not 100% correct.If there isn't one maybe we could get a list going here. Por ejemplo, Casa rodante - trailer/rvManguera desagüe - sewer hose Slide(N) - compartimiento plegable I have been studying a few hours everyday and would say I'm functionally fluent but I'm hoping by January I'll be conversationaly fluent! I don't know about every place in Mexico, but we have a 5th wheel and the Mexicans all call it a "camper". There are not a lot of Mexican RVers -- so I find when I use an RV specific word - even if it is Spanish - they don't know what I am talking about. We bring extras of the parts we need from the US because we cannot find them here in the Baja. But in a pinch, we always take a sample of what it is we want to purchase so they can help us out.

My wife is a native Spanish speaker (born in Argentina and raised in Costa Rica). Neither she nor our closest Mexican friends could come up with good translations for our RVing terms - not even for the RV itself. Their conclusion is the same as Ken's - there aren't many Mexican RVers. Those that live in trailers live in mobile homes and have adopted English terms for those. The same thing happened when computers came on the scene. Spanish speakers (especially Mexicans) adopted, and sometimes modified, English computer terms. If someone comes up with a list, I'd be very interested, too.Rob
