I have never been to the west coast before and we will be touring around Oregon and Washington states during April and May. Most of the time we will be on roads other than the Interstates and main highways. Will I have a problem finding diesel fuel?

No. They have semi-trucks, diesel pick-up trucks, diesel cars and truck stops just like any and everyone else. Oh, and yes they have DPs there also.Bill

LOL. Indians no longer roam the far west. We actually stopped using wagons about eighty years ago when automobiles got popular.Diesel is available here just like the rest of the country!

When camping in Oregon and Washington we always bring our own diesel fuel. We carry about 500 gallons with us in cans.Seriously, you will have absolutely no problem getting fuel anywhere anytime. Enjoy you visit to the beautiful Northwest.

Unless diesel hose is on same 'pump' as the gasoline hoses.
Then you may get guff from the attendant.

As to WHY I pump my own fuel...........I hate diesel fuel running down the side of my truck and I can top off my fuel tank w/o spilling.
Attendant will leave me 5 gallons shy of full and still spill fuel.

OP Most stations even in the wild west have diesel. :R Access with a rig may be a problem of course. :h The National Truck Stop Directory can be very useful even back east. If you are unable to use the truck lanes it also indicates RV lanes.

New Jersey and Oregon don't trust people to not blow themselves up while pumping gas, and the states would rather leave the job to professionals.
Its not rocket science any third grader could do it

I asked someone from Oregon why an attendant had to pump the fuel and he told me it was because the average user didn't always push the fuel nozzle in tight enough so the vacuum system in the nozzle sucked back the vapors coming out of the tank as the fuel went in. This was needed because the vapors were hazardous to people's health.

I told him I agreed, it was obvious that for Oregon to write a law like that, they had been inhaling way to many gas fumes. He didn't think I was funny......

No problem with Diesel. Just maybe watch for Bio Diesel, it has a little less power. Diesel in Fred Meyers, a local everything store, Diesel $1.89/gallon.
