Wondering if anyone has camped there, did you like it? Also wondering if there is enough room to launch boat at ramp total 58 ft from front of truck to back of boat thanks.Any suggestion on site numbers to remove truck camper.
Stayed there a couple years ago and we loved it. It's a very beautiful campground. The roads and sites were basically sand, but perfectly usable, and the restrooms and showers were spotless. The only thing I'll add to the favorable comments above is that, for a little county campground, it's got a surprising range of activities: a beach and swimming area, fishing (in the lake and a fishing pier on the river), a nature trail, hiking and biking trails, and so on. Highly recommended. - Jeepers92ExplorerWorks great with out TC pulling 24 foot pontoon. Big tides here. Watch your depth finder. Big island about 1/2 mile heading left from dock. Cant see with tide in.
- pa_travelerExplorerThanks for info nice campground ,didn't want to pick a place without reports on it.
- Mich_FExplorerI have camped there a few times (as an overnight stop mainly) but haven't stayed there in a number of years. It is (or at least was) a very nice park. I've been there with a boat but never launched there. I believe the ramp would work fine for any combination RV/boat. When I was there, they also had a facility with a travel-lift next to the ramp that would lift your boat off the trailer and launch it for you, for a fee, naturally.
- VTLeeExplorerOne of my favorite places. We stay here every year on the way to and from Florida. Visit Jekyll Island and take bug spray.
- pa_travelerExplorerThanks for replys, sounds like boat ramps will be usable. Good to know about the ramps within 2 miles. Just started pulling boat behind truck camper ,took it to panhandle last month. Will reserve a pull thru.
- mgirardoExplorerWe live less about 5 miles from Blythe Island Regional Park. Although we've never camped there, we do take the Motorhome there for the day throughout the year and setup next to the beach on the lake. When the kids were younger, we'd go almost once a week. The campsites are large, a lot of them are pull thrus. The sites along the lake are all back in sites. It is very much like a state park. If we didn't live so close, we'd definitely camp there.
There is a boat launch and a boat ramp on the river. I've seen all types of combos launching boats on the ramp, you shouldn't have any problem. If for some reason you do have a problem, there are two boat ramps outside the park (within 2 miles of the park) that can easily accommodate you. I really don't think you'll have a problem. Folks launch 30+ foot boats on the river all the time. The lake is electric motor only, but even the lake's ramp has a long enough approach for your size.
-Michael - fla-gypsyExplorerBeen a few years since I was there but it was a nice park except for the idiot using a blower to blow every leaf on his site off along with clouds of dust and pollen into my site. I went over and made myself very clear as to what would occur if he did that in my direction again. Don't know about the ramp.
- wanderingdawgsExplorerWe camped there several years ago and had a long, wide pull through site with full hookups including cable and free WiFi. The bath houses and laundry room were clean and well maintained. It is a beautiful wooded park with a pond and nature trails. I can't help you with your boat question but if you call the park they can probably help you.
