Campground / Marina Combinations

I am looking for suggestions for some nice locations anywhere east of the Mississippi that have a campground and a marina together on freshwater lakes or rivers.

I have a 16 foot fishing boat and ideally would like to find a place where I could put the boat in a slip at the marina for a week or so and then walk down from the RV to use the boat each day.

Even better would be a marina that would launch and retrieve the boat for me. I can (and have) launched with the RV where there is enough room at the launch but its not a lot of fun...

Any recommendations?

Thanks!
  • Look at Wellsley Island on the St Larwance River, Great NY state campground. Use to go there for years. Also if you want to venture into Ontario Try Bob's Lake, and Rice Lake.

that reminds me of one on the bay in the abingdon area. will try to remember the name. they had some pull in sites for Class As so you could park with your view to the water.

Hammer21661, no it does not get much more Eastern Shore than Tilghman Island & it does not get much more of a watermans boatyard than Severn Marine, our favourite CG/overhaul yard. No picnic table, no fire ring, no shade, sometimes not much room but where else can you wash & wax to your hearts content, run power tools, have access to a workshop, get woken up at 4:30AM every day as the watermen go out, get more than enough useless advice & meet some of the most genuine people in the world?

Looking forward to being there for the annual refit in a month or so time.
I go down to Tilghman Island almost every year either in the boat or the the camper or both For Tilghman Island Day. I usually race the boat if someone brings it down for me now.
  • Oxbow Park, Newaygo , MI.

Rent a dock and a site. Boat Launch Ramp in the park.
  • One of my favorite places is Kentucky Dam State Resort Park near Paducah, Ky. Big marina and an extremely wide launch ramp - just about the widest I've ever seen. But the campground is a mile or so from the marina.

The marina does rent boats if you'd rather not tow.

The marina has their own website - http://www.kydammarina.com/

You may want to investigate the entire Land Between The Lakes area. 2 huge lakes (actually are damned up Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers), at least two state parks as well as several COE campgrounds. It's a great area. Yes, I'm a fan.
