Planning a trip to Washington, DC and looking at staying at the Cherry Hill Campground. Would love some input on this campground and pictures if you have any to share. The campground is quite large and have no idea which area in the campground is the best spot. Any input would be great...even input on getting around washington would be great!!! Thanks in advance!!

The only way to see DC if you have an RV. Very nice well run park, but you will not spend much time there. There is way to much to see in and around DC. The high light of all of our years of RV travel. Stay as long as you can. Tour and Metro buses pick you up right in the park. I would not even consider driving and parking in DC.

Stayed there last May between seeing DC and then on over to Annapolis the next day. The park is very nice with every amenity but definitely on the pricey end of the scale. Most folks take the buses right out of the station in the park to tour DC. Get ready for the worst roads in America as DC is not just our nations capitol but the Pothole Capitol as well.:C

I was in #429 right across from the bath house. No issues. I don't think you can go wrong with any spot. Great place for the kids.

We stayed here a few years ago to take the kids to tour DC in early June. As many above have said, we spent almost no time in the campground, we were in DC as much as possible. There is a metro station close by, we drove there and rode the metro in each day. The campground had a very nice dog walking service.We also LOVED a little Italian restaurant just outside of the campground.

If you have deep pockets & don't mind sleeping to the highway noise, by all means stay at Cherry Hill.

The real DC sleeper, once the Dulles air traffic dies down each night, & it does, is Fairfax County Park AKA Lake Fairfax Park.

Similar distance from downtown DC at a fraction of the price. No traffic noise. You would think that you are way outside the city not just outside the beltway.

They even have a couple of dog parks.

If anyone is going to be in DC for Memorial Day weekend go to the Memorial Day Concert on the Capitol lawn on Sunday night. Get there early, bring chairs or a blanket to sit on, and expect a big crowd. They get top notch entertainment and celebrities, both performing and hosting the show and it is free. This is the concert that is broadcast on PBS.

We stayed in one of the sites right up front before you get to the office, and it was nice. I usually like staying in the back of the CGs out of the high traffic area, but I had read that some of the sites in the back weren't as large and the roads were a little hilly getting back there. We didn't really notice too much of the noise from the interstate. The shuttle to DC was well worth the money.

We recently stayed at Cherry Hill campground. I would advise against any of the pull thrus in the 700s. Narrowest sites we ever saw. We asked to switch to a back in instead and were very happy with it. Great location and very helpful staff.

We have ideas of what we want to do, but having never been there, it's hard to determine how to best navigate the area. And everyone has a different opinion which helps, but adds to the confusion. I'm sure we'll have our own opinion after we visit.

So, you're recommending using the metro for the Smithsonians, the on/off trolley for the Mall and the bus tour from the campground to see Arlington?
