I have never understood why people want to put the electronics in a $75,000 fifth wheel at risk by using a cheap no-name Chinese generator that might have little to no voltage regulation. The Honda, Yamaha, or even Champion might cost a little extra... but at least you know that you are getting 120 volts with no random spikes or transients.

I assume that your group enjoyed some superb camping somewhere at the end of that adventure!

By the way, there are some who participate in these forums that would insist up one side and down the other that only six figure $$$ expedition vehicles could/should go where you went in those photos.

Your photos prove that good old American iron can do it at way less $$. Now ... were any in your group able to take a warm stand-up inside shower wherever you wound up at the end of that climb? ;)

we only have our little quiet Honda lol

obviously, it didn't scare the diesel coaches near us off :S

right now, the people next to us (Ogilby Road)are too close.

I had the window cracked and the vent open for ventilation for our Blue Flame heater.


coach is filling with the smell of diesel from the coach close to us running.

The first thing out of the trailer is our 3500/4000 Champion and it goes where anyone coming into our clearing will see. I've never had to start it to deter clearing crashers but I would just like I'd put the schnauzers in their doggy tent and let them bark their silly little heads off. I can't stand hearing either but you have to do what you have to do.

I agree people need generators occasionally, if not daily.

We're at Glamis and took a drive around Gecko the other day. There was an 8,000 construction type generator outside one of the toy haulers point directly at the campers across the road. THAT's rude. If they can afford all those toys, they can afford a quiet generator :)

Group of 4 RVs just arrived. They took up 4 adjoining spaces, one of which is right next to me.

Of course they had to stuff themselves in right next to me, when there's plenty of room on the other side of the road. And there's another 3 spaces they could have moved over, but nooo... that would be too easy. And the rig that's next to me is an older Class C with a surging generator. Its exhaust is at ground level and about 12' from my kitchen slide. There's no wind to take it away. Their gas hot water is on the same side too. I politely asked the lady if she'd be willing to turn off her gas HW tonight, so would I. She gave me this puzzled look, stammered a bit as if she didn't know what to say, then uttered "yeah. ..sure.. if I knew how to do that." She seemed a bit upset by the whole thing so I thought it best to leave her alone as she's obviously in over her head. It would be so easy to simply back up and turn her coach around, but maybe she can't do that either. Of course, then she'd be blowing exhaust on her friends.

I'd move if I could.. but I have rib pain and really can't do much work right now. Good thing generators have to be off by 9pm around here. Hope she knows that.
