Great beach camping in FL

Depending on the park and time of your you plan on going, you may have to book early...like months and months before...especially if you plan to go anytime before May or June.

What we have found after taking short winter vacations to Florida for over 30 years, and now spending the winters down here as full time RVers, the further south you go in Florida three things go up....the temperature, the population, and the price.

We have found that if you want warm winter weather stay someplace south of Sarasota. If you don't mind a bunch of 50 degree temps in January/February and wind, then save some money and stay up in the northern part of Florida or the panhandle someplace.

Awesome to see these great reviews of St. Joe--we're headed there for the first time in October before heading to Fort Wilderness at Disney.

Another vote for St. Joe. Beautiful beaches!! Not a lot of tourists. Sounds like what you are looking for, except for wifi at the campsites.

Not all of Florida has to be crowded, St Joseph Peninsula state park was great. Very few people on the beach in September, and the weather was perfect. If you are interested in that area, PM me and I can send you a few pictures of the area. It was our favourite camping spot for sure!

North Beach in St Augustine is a short walk and its on the Intracoastal Water Way. Beverly Beach Camptown is on a seawall directly on the ocean near Flagler Beach. Pricey. Gamble Rogers State Park is on the ocean in Flagler Beach. Very hard to get into. Jetty Park is on the ocean and next to an inlet that Cruise ships go in and out from. County Park, not always easy to get a spot. Florida is crowded and getting more crowded.

I guess by beachfront, I mean we can walk to the beach. I don't have to camp right on it. I don't know if anyone is familiar with Twin Shores campground in Prince Edward Island, but I'm looking for the Floridian equivalent of that. :)

And snakes, sharks and gators are awesome; the more wildlife, the better!

Camp Gulf in Destin is the only RV resort with actual beach front camping. It is very nice but not cheap. The beach front sites are normally full so book early.
