How many days at Yellowstone

I would imagine someone could spends weeks at Yellowstone ,but.
We are doing a 4/5 week tour from Atlanta and back.
Realistically home many days should we spend at Yellowstone.
We are the kind of folks that love the outdoors but aren't going to hike
We like to see the beauty of the area and then move on.
I just booked 5 days at fishing Bridge.
Is that enough
From there we are going to Grand Tetons , 2 days there is that enough?
Advice on where to stay at Grand Tetons with 35ft Motorhomes wanting full hookups
Thanks in advance!!!
  • The answer is subjective. I can spend one day at the Grand Canyon and be ready to move on.
  • Another question - you are going with a toad (towed car), right? Driving around the park(s) with a MH can be done, but it's a pain, as the roads are often narrow, and you'll have hikers and (especially) bikers trying to share the road with you.

If you're not bringing a toad, you can rent cars in West Yellowstone or at the Jackson airport; and of course reservations are a must.
  • We have 7 days reserved at FB, and plan to stay another 2-3 nights on the north side of Yellowstone. That's more time than most feel is necessary, but I feel if it's worth the drive, it's worth staying. Something we noticed on our last big trip is that those extra days that weren't "necessary" ended up being some of our favorite. Those are the days you do the unexpected!

Based on your previous post I would spend less time in the Badlands so that you can include glacier into this trip. I would make the Tetons three days.
  • You have plenty of time with that scenario, Golferdave. If you find, after 4 days in Yellowstone, you really have hit all the highlights you want, you could go explore something outside the park: Cody is great (the Buffalo Bill Museum is fantastic, much more than you'd expect) and if you like old "ghost towns," Virginia & Nevada City MT are fun - both a nice day trip from YNP.

As for the CG in the Tetons - Colter Bay RV Village, hands down. Make reservations as soon as you can; they do fill up. Full hookups, you camp in the pines, but they do have room for big rigs. The other private CGs are either in the town of Jackson, not by the Tetons, or get terrible reviews (and I believe deservedly, from what we've seen driving by).

Sounds like you're on your way to a great Yellowstone-Tetons vacation! :)
  • We also booked 5 days back in '04. Four of those days were devoted to seeing the major attractions in YNP - Old Faithful, Norris Geyser Basin, Mammoth Hot Springs, Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, Artists Paint Pots, and the like. Also half a day of boating on the lake. You'll have enough time to hit the highlights, IMHO. We covered over 300 miles over the course of those four days - that's how big the park is.

Fifth day? We rested. Enjoy & safe travels.
