    Hello,

Yes, RVs are allowed in the park. We have travelled the park several times with a 31 foot class C, without towing a car and had no problems.

At some of the pull offs and scenic features, you might have trouble finding a parking place or may have to park farther away and walk. But, we never missed seeing anything by not having a smaller vehicle along.

There are campgrounds in the park and several near the various entrances. Inside of the park, you can only stop for the night at the campgrounds, not at other places.

During the summer months there are times that it may be difficult to get a campsite. Yellowstone is one place that I highly recommend making advance reservations whenever possible, especially if you need hookups.

    Have fun!

Usually much easier after Labor Day...
  • One thing that is different about Yellowstone is you don't have to be staying at a particular campground to use the facilities. If you camp at one area that doesn't have showers and hookups, you can pull into one of the other areas and take a shower, dump your tanks, fill with fresh water etc. So if you have a typical RV don't let the lack of hookups keep you out of the non hookup camps.
  • Make reservations early! :) You always have a better shot of getting a spot with early reservations.

September is not as easy as most people think. First, the park starts shutting down campgrounds in early September, so there are less spaces available.
Second, after Labor Day begins a season the locals call "the newlyweds and the nearly deads." That is all the people who want to wait until the children crowd is gone.
Third, September is becoming more and more popular due to the great animal watching and the fact the weather is normally great.
Biggest thing to watch out for in September is forest fires. If a big one is burning, smoke can be a real issue.

Fishing Bridge stays full until the day they close in September - I was there the last day in 2014

It closes September 17th this year

We have been to Yellowstone 6-7 times with our 24ft Class C. We don't tow a car and like to have our kitchen and bathroom facilities with us as some parts of the Park are quite remote. We visit in early June while families with school age kids are waiting for school to get out. Makes driving around, parking and getting campsites easier when the park is less crowded. Last year with the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service and cheap gas prices the park was more crowded than in the past.

July and August are the busiest months in the Park and there is a total eclipse of the sun on August 21st this year that passes over Grand Teton National park just south of Yellowstone that will bring out more people before and after that date. Camping reservations in later August will be especially hard to get this year.
