Myrtle beach during Thanksgiving

I spent last Thanksgiving at the beach. Weather was mild. A ceramic heater kept the chill off at night.

We stayed in MB area at Murrells Inlet, Huntington Beach SP, in November 2011 for a few nights and it was sunny and quite pleasant for long walks and seeing Atalaya, the old mansion in the park. Nice for evening campfires too.

But I have also been there for Thanksgiving and have froze to death.
Had to wrap tarps around my "cabana" just so I could get out of the TT for awhile.

We are planning a trip first of Nov. Have not picked a RV spot yet. Have family in Pawleys Island.

Myrtle Beach Travel Park - only place we stay at now in MB - good sized sites and easy access.

Used to stay at Apache - sites are too tough to get in and out of in a fifth wheel (they are not pull through sites).

I spent a couple of weeks there in the late 90's around that time of year, shortly after retirement. I used to go for a golf week every year in the spring with 11 others, but this was a solo trip and not in an RV. The purpose was to check out all the RV parks when they weren't busy. It was light jacket weather early morning and at night and pleasant during the day. Several people walked on the beach but I saw no swimmers. A few restaurants were closed, mostly the choke and puke "all you can eat" places that depend on volume instead of quality. Most of the golf courses were open, but most were in some sort of "repair" mode after a busy season. The RV parks were all open but not crowded. (Nice) The 700 brightly lit swimsuit stores were all open, but not busy. The malls were all open and doing big business.
All in all, a nice time to visit.

Honestly, The weather is a******shoot, as Mockybird said, You COULD freeze to death, or it could be in the 80s. It could be sunny, or snowing. You'll never know till you go. But there is a real good chance. Swimming in the ocean will not be an option.

There is also a chance. You will have a great time. Barefoot Landing is always fun, and easier to walk around in the fall. BUT. The Alligators will be in hibernation, so Alligator Adventure won't be much fun. Not sure I'd want to go Parasailing either. The Dolphin trip would be good though.

However. There is no place that is a miserable as the beach, When it is cold, and raining. It just ain't right.

Well being from Md "might" have you trying the ocean out, but ,most likely you would need to be from upper Canada to enjoy it.

The only thing worse than being at the beach and it is rainy or cold.... is being at home and it is rainy or cold. At least you are at the beach. JMO

This will be our 4th year at Ocean Lakes at Thanksgiving. We love it. Guys watch football & gals do the Black Friday shopping. Weather is cool but not bad in the past.

I think any of the campgrounds will be ok at that time of the year. The big three won't be as busy as it is during the summer. I think Lakewood used to do a thanksgiving potluck type of dinner or something like it. Not sure if they still do. Wouldn't hurt to ask.
