Nice camping spots around Colorado Springs?

We’re thinking about taking our little travel trailer out to Colorado this fall, we would like to stay around the Colorado Springs area. I must admit that I haven’t done much research yet as far as good places to stay…….I thought I would ask you guys first to see if I could get some good suggestions before I spend hours online reading through reviews.

I’d like to find a place with a nice view, and not too far out in the sticks. We’d probably stay for 4-6 days. Any good campground that you would recommend I take a look at when I’m doing my research and reading through reviews?
  • X2 on Mueller State Park

Look at Mountaindale RV Park & Resort south of Colorado Springs. Was there earlier in the month and were very happy with the campground. The place had really clean bathroom/shower facilities, laundry and lots of wildlife.
  • If we can get in (reservations hard to get) we always stay in Cheyenne Mountain State Park, but on this last trip we "discovered" Mueller State Park just up past Woodland Park, not far off US 24.

Yes, I also like Buena Vista and we also stayed there at Arrowhead Point RV Park. Spent the Fourth there.
  • X3 to Cheyenne Mountain State Park for the best choice of campgrounds for CO Springs,
but we very much liked the Buena Vista area, too.

Of course, there are dozens of places to stay in that area, but this one is hard to beat.
    Cheyenne Mountain State Park

    +1
We stayed there for 4 days last June. Plenty to see and do within a days drive. Including Pikes Peak (we did the cog train ride to the top), Garden of the Gods, Rocky Mountain National Park (will be an all day trip), Cripple Creek Area including the Mollie Kathleen Goldmine Tour.

Sorry but unless you are visiting someone in the Springs I'd push on to Buena Vista and the Collegiates - there you will have a lifetime of Adventures. Trails - Lakes - Rivers - Cool Nights - Leadville - Turquoise Lake - Independence Pass -...........

Colorado Springs - Traffic - Heat - Air Force Academy ........

One is a Colorado Adventure the Other is a trip to Town.

    Buena Vista CG's

    JMHO,
  • Why don't you do some research first, then narrow it down and ask questions about those spots? As it is now, you have not given us much to go on.
