Just arrived and want to leave. This campground is one of the most schizophrenic ones we have seen. Some of the sites are a normal size for in town and have a normal utility layout. More of them were laid out by a lunatic. The sites are miniscule. The utilities are positioned so that our neighbor's water hose and ours form a tripping hazard right by our table area. Our hose and electric cord have to run under our unit. His electric cord runs right onto our site, so we have another tripping hazard to get back to the bikes. Our sewer connection is under our rear overhang! There are rows of sites just like this.The site they offered to move us to is even smaller, with our sewer hookup directly under our neighbor's picnic table! These are definitely not the sites they use for their ads.Other than that, they are too far from town to walk and too far from Yellowstone to make it worth the unpleasantness of this site. They don't give refunds. Don't come here unless you are absolutely sure you are getting one of the decent sites.

We stayed there when on a trip to the Black Hills in our 31' Motorhome. Don't quite remember which site I think 32 in the original section. There weren't any issues for us. The city trolly picks up at the office and they also do a nice tour of Cody from town. There is a new RV Park to the west but we seemed to like where we were so extended our stay. The office staff were very helpful and friendly even as busy as they were. Would I stay there again...You bet!.....Sorry your site is so wonky. Remember if you get Lemons make lemonade....Mike

We just left there yesterday and were on site 32 in our 43 ft MH. We thought it was the best site in the park with plenty of length and a large yard area on our entry side. However, I can understand what you say about some of the sites. Our water hookup was very close to the neighbors entry and our sewer hookup was under the end of the coach, but was just back of the rear tires. I almost felt guilty with all of our space and our nice neighbor beside us had very little. I think the old part of the park was designed for small campers and they are trying to put bigger rigs in the spaces, but the pull-through sites in the new section appeared to be better designed.

Have you considered asking for another site,perhaps out in the grassy area by tepees? We stayed there for a week in June and we were very pleased with our site which was the same as all sites out in the meadow area. The staff couldn't have been nicer. I'm sorry that has not been your experience. The Cody Museum is a nice walk from RV park and we always rewarded ourselves with a soft serve cone from Dairy Queen on our return.As to not being that close to Yellowstone-you're correct,it's about 65 miles, but I can tell you that it is 65 miles of beautiful scenery! The East Entrance is our favorite! Hope it all works out for you!

We stayed at Buffalo Bill Park CG,that is not far away and is really nice.

We have 6 days in Yellowstone at Fishing Bridge after this. There are nice dry camp spaces at Buffalo Bill Cody. If it were up to me, I would eat the fees and go. DH is stubborn. He's not going to let them rent it out to someone else and double their take. If they won't give him a refund, he'd stay here if it was on fire.

And that only gets you to the East Entrance. Add another 30 minutes to get to the junction on the grand loop, which is the road you need to be on to see the vast majority of the park. Cody is a great place to visit, but a lousy place to make your base camp for Yellowstone. If you want to stay outside the park for the conveniences like full hookups, stores, restaurants, cell service, wifi, cable TV etc. your best choices are West Yellowstone and Gardiner.

i was only trying to offer some encouragement. If you aren't staying in the park then any drive in to the park is going to be a challenge. I was trying to help her make lemonade out of her lemon :)

Tarheel, we are on 31 and the same people who were on 32 yesterday are still there. They do have a roomier picnic area, but the man says he's not coming back here, either. Their water hose is still running right in front of my table and their electric cable is still running just behind it. There are some decent sites in the park. I did say that. There is also a section where people are crammed in with every other person having his very small picnic area crisscrossed with his and his neighbor's cables and hoses. It's getting to be bike week at Sturgis. Combine that with Yellowstone and there isn't much choice. The other site we were offered if we wanted to change was 108, where our hoses and cable would have been in our neighbor's picnic area with our sewer line right under his table. It's the luck of the draw where they put you. We've had reservations for months.
