    Hi.

    Thanks for working on this, as I feel you are going towards a helpful product for other RV’rs to enjoy and learn more about Quartzsite.

    Many of my comments, on your original thread are still present in your update. These would be;

    Not having the camera frame level is disconcerting for the viewer. Your intro shot is a good example of the lack of level. This is the Exit sign for Quartzsite, as it is VERY crooked in the shot. Others would be like the hood line of your Tow Vehicle, when recording through your windshield.

    As stated before, I enjoy the voice of your narrator and even tone. But, the narrator is still reading in a script tone and using words that are common when read, but not in conversational speaking. This style is called “plain speaking,” which is present in most film and written forms. Some of these would be the pronunciation of the word; “The.” At approximately 2:45 in your video, your narrator pronounces “Thiee” when plain speaking is; “Thuh.” While there is colloquial ways of pronouncing words, like the work Wash, sometimes pronounced; “Wore sh.” There were many words being pronounced as being read, not plain spoken, like Aid, Evolve. While I like pronouncing the word envelope as; “ON velope” rather than “IN velope.” It is something that narrators work hard on getting the style correct. That is why some actors can pull off dialogue of a southerner and others can’t. It is the nuance.

    I was also disappointed the aerial POV was edited out of the video. It was great seeing the parking at the Quartzsite and how many “circle their Motorhome Wagons.”

    There are more items, but if you review my previous post’s comments, that will fill you in on my thoughts.

    Thanks

    Your such an expert why haven't you taken the time to make an informative video such as this? Come on bud lets see one of your "Expert Informative Videos".... Go crawl under a rock.
    To the original poster great job I have often wondered myself what Quartsite is what drew so many people. Great work thank you for posting.

    I've heard lots about it but you finally put a face on it for me to relate to.

    X-2, always wondered what all the hubbub was about, now I know it's someplace I have no interest in going to. Nice video though.

  • Enjoyed the video very much, wasnt sure what to expect, and since we want to go there someday this helps. Now we have a better idea and like what you have shown.
  • Thanks for the information. This non-retiree New Yorker wonders what it was all about as there are numerous posts about it. Maybe someday we will get there.
  • I agree with Matt.
    For the re-edit it's only constructive to criticize that which can be fixed on this round. I have no problems with camera angles or it's tilt. They are what they are and obviously cannot be changed now. If anyone pays attention to the "modern" tripod free, always moving camera shots.. Like em' or hate em', that is the new standard. The world doesn't like static shots. Seeing the camera car shadow... So? This is a travel log, not a Hollywood epic. Who cares if you see a shadow or a mic boom?

    If there is any critique, the narration could be allot more animated and a little more verbose, similar to reading an expressive book to the 1st grade. That's something that can be easily fixed.

    Video wise I wouldn't mess with it further. The footage is what it is and is fine.
  • I've often wondered what the heck Quartzsite was about and that was a very informative video. I know how much time and effort it takes to put a video like that together and I would call it a very informative, enjoyable production.

    As far as critiques - first be true to yourself and keep on making videos because the only way to improve is hours in the cockpit. As it is - I think it's significantly better than many videos I see on youtube (I only use vimeo with when people recommend specific links) because it is to the point, it doesn't unnecessarily drag at parts an has overall good production values. Keep it up!
