Timothy Lake- Poconos

Looking for some feedback (Checked RV reviews)-
There is north and south- My understanding is north is for smaller units but has waterpark- South is quieter- But if you stay in South- you can use North facilities (How do you get there-South to north?)
Any reviews are welcome- I'm hearing some positive and negative in general about the park- Do you need to be a member to stay there?

  • John, all of the Thousand Trails parks that I know of are first-come/first-served.

The one in Williamsburg was so tight that I dropped my camper on the first open site that I could and then drove around in just my truck. I'm glad I did - I definitely would have gotten myself stuck if I had my rig behind me.
  • Well ... it all depends upon what you want. We're not Thousandtrails (or whatever they are) members and we were able to make reservations without too much of a hassle. However ... when we checked in they told me to give them my divers licence (say what?!?!) and "go find a open site". They gave me a map that had been photocopied way too many times and we got lost in the maze of roads and had to call them to come "find" us and help me find a site to fit into (I was tired after a long days drive). A 34' 5er doesn't fit very well around some of the roads they told me to take. We didn't feel welcome while we were there, we felt like outsiders, we never tried the water park even though we have 2 boys (7 & 8) and won't ever go back.

We like state parks much more but this one was convenient for what we wanted to do in the area at the time.

    Just my opinion
  • Basically they both are membership parks. However you can get in not being a member by making a reservation. North is where most of the activities happen. It is about 1/2 mi. from the south park. If your in the south park you can use the north park and it's aminities with no charge. Both have a large number of rental units so they are busy in the summer. When I go up that way we stay at South. Personal preference. As don b said.
  • It has been many years since I have camped there I am guessing there have been changes. I would suggest you go to www.Thousandtrails.com and read what they have to offer plus you can make a non member reservation on this site. I do know North has less sites available but does have most of the amenities. North was and imagine still is more of a party type atmosphere, especially on weekends, lots going on. You can get from South to North easily by either driving or walking about a half mile on the narrow road to the cg. I have walked it already but it was not the smartest thing I have ever done due to traffic and no sidewalk. Good luck
