- Carl_n_SusanNomad IIGlad to hear site #14 is a FHU. Maybe the Park staff will update the site description on RA to say FHU rather than W/E. How long will you be there? We have reservations there for Labor Day.

Site #14 is relatively short ... portion skipped ... The really bad news is it appears this site doesn't have a sewer connection (according to the park map). Given the problems with the sewer system in the lower level of this park, I am pretty sure site 14 is only W/E. You probably want to check with the powers that be before you plan to stay there for an extended period of time.
I checked with Rangers before coming and was reassured that indeed it was a full hookup site .. and indeed it is .... and we get excellent Dish Satellite service .. using our tailgater on a table next to the Volunteer name-sign post.
Yes there is traffic across the sight, but in back of it there is an excellent area to walk the dog. EXCEPT for only 3 bars of service on 3G cell service .. everything else is good. - Carl_n_SusanNomad IISite #14 is relatively short particularly if you have a tow'd. I haven't camped in that site as it used to be a tent site. It was converted to a RV site 4 years (?) ago. The good news is there is a decent chance of connecting to a satellite. I seem to remember it is a scenic site, but there is a fair amount of traffic from the folks coming and going to the yurts. It is close to the dumpsters (located directly across the driveway from site 12). The really bad news is it appears this site doesn't have a sewer connection (according to the park map). - RoadXYZExplorer IIFound out today that we are going to be in Site 14 .. has anyone stayed at that site before .. looks a little short at 35 ft., and our unit is 30 ft. long.
If you have any knowledge about site 14 (which is next to Yurt Park I presume from map on-line), could you share please .. ? - Us_out_WestExplorerGreat tour of the lighthouse...we enjoy visiting lighthouse's wherever we are on the Oregon/Wasington coast.
We stayed at Winchester Bay RV Resort, only about a mile away, where we had no concerns about hooking up to satellite if that is what you need.

You say you "..are moving to Umpqua..." and you are full-timers. I assume you are going to be a camp host? If so, you are usually placed in sites #1 or #2. Both of them have a satellite shot. I have seen previous camphosts using satellite antennas in those spots. Additionally site #10 and #11 have a shot (for DirecTV) but at the front of the sites and almost in the road.

You will need a portable antenna as roof top mounts will be blocked by trees.
Yes we are Oregon State Parks Volunteers .. have never been to Umpqua before and was wondering ... thank you very much for the reply. We have a Tailgater we use with our receiver in the TT. - jim1632ExplorerWe hosted at Tugman SP last year. This is a co-managed park with Umpqua. The other hosts had satellite reception there.
I did not enter the Umpqua campground but it did not look anymore densely wooded than Tugman. We did not have any problems with iPhones working there.
Great area for hosting. - Carl_n_SusanNomad III have been camping at the Umpqua Lighthouse campground for 20+ years. There are several sites that have satellite access. I have DirecTV and know it works. I don't have experience with Dish but I suspect it should work also.

My favorite sites are #48, #50, #52, and #54. There is no satellite access from these sites per se, but there is a shot available from the parking lot above them. You have to setup the antenna on the south side of the Yurt parking area and then run a cable down the hill to your rig.
Sites #43 and #45 are also potential satellite friendly locations. However I have not actually tried getting a signal there.

Umpqua Lighthouse is a terrific little park. Winchester Bay is scenic and fun to explore. If you like oysters, Triangle Oysters grows them at the south end of the jetty and sells them at the end of the first peninsula. The Light House is worth a tour as are the numerous sand dunes. Crabbing and fishing are popular activities. There is lots to see and do south and north of there. If you are interested in more information, let me know. - aslaksonExplorerFrom the aerial photos at Google Maps these coordinates 43.659787,-124.192665 show maybe one or two sites with a southern exposure. RVParkReviews has several reviews that mention dense tree cover and no satellite. I'd say your chances are slim to none. And having formerly lived in Reedsport for 20+ years, your chances of over the-air TV are about the same.
al - donn0128Explorer IILike most of the coast parks there is lots of trees. Dont expect to get a signal unless your really lucky.
