  • There are very limited campgrounds in the area. You can stay in Woodbine which is the closest to the West Friendship/western Ellicott City area. If your willing to be about 25 minutes down MD32 there is a KOA closer to Annapolis just at the I97/MD32 interchange, and then about 45 minutes away down 95 is Cherry Hill Campground.
  • We used RP for spur of the moment weekend getaways back when I had a TT. Even stored it there for a season. It's definitely not a destination campground, but it's a good enough base camp. Nothing else really close to West Friendship.

Lantly had a good idea about the Howard County Fairgrounds, but I am pretty sure they are dry camping for people attending events only.
  • Ramblin Pines is fine. A little expensive for what it is- but land here is expensive. The worst part was their funky water hookups (literally underground).

    Here's a whole write up:

    Pics of the water hookup:

They're not unusable, but they're a little tough to get to. I literally ended up laying on the ground to get them hooked up. If you have a short 5' hose, I'd hook that up and then use that like it is your normal campground faucet connection (putting in a wye or whatever you might do).

Depending on what campground experience you want- their FR sites are really easy parking, good for big rigs, just aren't private or even scenic.
  • Thanks everyone, Yes, I'm looking to stay near West Friendship,Maryland(corrected the title) My wife wants to attend the Fibre Festival in early May.
Lantley - I've got the same basic equiptment as you. If you're comfortable with the Ramblin Pines setup's and location, I can put up with the worn aspect. Reviews were talking about underground utlitiy hookups being almost unusable.
As far as the fairgrounds, I don't think they are letting people use those sites during the festival since that's where it's being held. (would be too convenient)
  • After further review maybe the OP means West Friendship,MD? I live in the area Ramblin Pines is your best choice for a full hook up CG. Are you in the area to visit? Ramblin Pines will suffice for a base camp. It's an OK CG. A bit worn and rough but overall somewhere I would stay if I needed to be in the area. It will be convenient because its close.
There is also the Howard County Fairgrounds. I see lots of RV's staying there for various events. Not sure if full hookups are available. You may give them a call. The fairgrounds are located in West Friendship vs. Woodbine for Ramblin Pines
  • What part of MD are you trying to be near? Its not clear in your post.
  • Agree on the fees. DW and I always disagree over the fee thing. I say let the visitors pay. I don't get very far :). As to the CG mentioned, I would rate it a good solid neutral. When we were using it DD was in school nearby so really no other choice. Some sites are really nice, some out in a field.

Probably looking for a campground near West Friendship, Maryland.

    That was my understanding.
We stay in Capitol KOA when in Baltimore. They have a nice dog yard and some of the wooded sites accommodate larger rigs.

Ramblin' Pines is closer to your destination and looks good on paper but apparently their customer relations are not quite professional periodically. We did not care for their fees they charge for visitors to the campground either: $5/head. Our family visiting us on site would have to cough up $60 PER DAY!
  • It is not clear what you are looking for. Your title, to me looks like you are looking for a MD, medical Doctor, somewhere in the west. Then in your post you are looking for a place to stay in May, but where in the country are you and where are you looking? Mo2re info and clarification is needed.
