- DonConExplorerTake a tour of the Toyota plant in Georgetown, KY. Tours are free but you do need reservations.

- jnharleyExplorerThe General Patton Museum has moved/will be moving? to Ft Bragg. We visited the museum last year and they were getting ready to move it then. The gift shop had already moved out. You can see the gold repository though. It is all fenced in and you are not even allowed to stop and take a picture.
- khahunaExplorerIn the Louisville area there is the General Patton Museum at Ft Knox.
- Campfire_TimeExplorerWe just returned from a non-camping trip to that area. I also recommend doing the bourbon trail, although we only had time to do the Buffalo Trace Distillery. Most of our trip was spent day hiking in the Red River Gorge.
If you can take a day and drive an hour east of Lexington, go to Natural Bridge State Park and see the arch, there is sky lift to the arch if you are not hikers. Nearby is an easy hike to an arch called Sky Bridge. Its as equally impressive as Natural Bridge and a bit more remote. At the very least if you are in the area drive around the Red River Gorge National Geologic Area. IMHO, its one of the most beautiful places in KY.
About 1 1/2 hours south of Lexington is Cumberland Falls State Park. A "must see" sight. Don't camp there though, we looked at the campground and only the smallest trailers can fit in those sites. It was kind of dumpy compared to other KY state park campgrounds. - johncamtravelExplorerThanks for the info so far. We are going to be at Kentucky Horse Park
about the last weekend of this month. It sounds like very interesting
things to do to keep us busy. Thanks Again.... - wingsfan20ExplorerYou must do the bourbon trail. We do it every year on return form Florida. Kentucky Horse Park is Great too. If Keenland park is open the horse racing is good in Lexington.

- rockhillmanorExplorer IIKentucky Horse Park hands down. There is a VARIETY of events going on all year long along side the CG area a short walk or ride. From Olympic trials you name it. IMHO very interesting for all ages. Museums and shops abound also on the grounds.
I stay for weeks at a time and never leave the grounds there is so much to see. Last year a group practicing for the National competition of some real interesting type of square dancing had their annual dinner and was set up behind me. Great music, great people.
BTW: KHP also has what they call 'primitive parking' area. It really is NOT primitive. It is near the front on the grass, big sites pick you own. Water and electric and the dump station is right outside the CG area on the entrance road. I always stay i - kknowltonExplorer IIIf you, or anyone traveling with you, is the least bit into horses, the Horse Park is a must. Nice CG with electric & water hookups, and the park itself has all kinds of horse breeds, exhibits, activities, etc. Another good horsey spot is Old Friends Farm near Georgetown for retired thoroughbreds. They give tours for a reasonable donation. Georgetown itself is a charming place to visit.
