Yosemite Upper Pines Site 84 question

Which route are you planning on coming in on? Tioga is closed but when open is a beautiful drive, 140 up the Merced River is quite twisty but a spectacular drive for shorter vehicles. Highway 41 should be able to accommodate longer vehicles more easily but may be a bit of a longer drive.

DaveG, thanks for the info; makes me feel more confident. I'm not a rooky rv'er; have backed into some very tight spots. But trees I can't move!!

The site is 35' deep so depth shouldn't be a problem. It's clearance at the roadway to site access.

Yes, I tried to get Lower Pines # 38 but it was taken by the time I had clicked refresh at 7 am sharp.
Thanks for your comments. I think I'll be ok. Photos of the site seem to show it quite clear of trees at the roadway.

If your rig length from the back of the rearmost trailer tire (up against the site barrier) to the truck's front bumper exceeds the site length and causes your truck to stick out into the road, you'll have to unhook and park in the lot (it doesn't look wide enough to park next to your 5th). That's about the worst that can happen.

You should be ok. We just left our site yesterday. It was for a maximum trailer length of 18 feet and we had a 27 foot 5er. If you haven't already done it, go and check out the picture of #84 on yosemitecampsites.com As long as you fit off the road they leave you alone. Have a great time!

When I made reservations back in 2011 the one detail on the acknoledgement that I remember was this... **The maximum allowable trailer length is always shorter than the allowable RV length (due to maneuverability). You are responsible for reading the site alerts and booking a site that will accommodate your equipment. If you arrive to the campground with different equipment than what you booked for, you will likely not fit, and will be turned away.**

As long as there is no obstruction at the end of the pad you can let the rear hang off and get another 5' or so. As long as the trailer fits you are good to go. If somehow the truck does not fit you can park one free tram stop away at Curry village or whatever it is called now.

There are no bad campsites in Yosemite ;) Enjoy the trip.
