Number of unread posts never changes on the community feed

Just an FYI. I've noticed that the number of unread posts never seems to update or change on the community feed. I typically right click on a post and open in a new tab. But it doesn't seem to matter if I open on the current tab or open a new tab the number of unread posts doesn't update or disappear. I've tried in both Firefox (my default) and in Edge and the numbers just don't seem to update or disappear.

  • If it helps at all I find that the post "Android 8" tablet for navigation" is especially troublesome. Not sure why but it is definitely one that acts up.

  • Unfortunately it's still occurring.  I log in and immediately scroll down to the community feed. I read the first post and after I get to the bottom I click on goodsam on the top left to go back to to the community feeds. The number of unreads disappeared. Same with the second and third posts. It cleared the unread count.
Then came post #4 with 9 replies. I read it all the way through and when I clicked on the goodsam at the top left the count of unread was still 9. So I went back in and noticed that in the middle of some replies was a little "More" arrow (apparently I was in threaded mode)  so I clicked the "More" arrow and it opened a few more replies. Then I clicked on goodsam and the count shows 4 instead of 9. So I read it again looking for more "More" arrows but found none. I went into my preferences and changed the display format to linear. I read the forum again and now it's down to 1 unread. But no matter how many times I refresh the screen or close and open the post it always says 1 unread.

So I moved on the the next posting that had 4 unread. After reading all the replies I clicked on goodsam and there are still 4 unread. So it seems like the first few reads clear the unread count. But then something goes wonky and it stops clearing the count.

Thanks for all of those details. I'll dig in and see what could be causing this from your end.

  • I will check over the next week or so. I thought it was resolved and then thought I saw it happening again and then life got in the way and I forgot about it. I'll let you know what I find.

    Thanks

  • I also tried clicking on Forums and reading from there and it still does not update the number of unread posts.

Hi opnspaces, checking back in here. Are you still noticing an issue with the unread posts feature after you've read through a thread? I'm not seeing it from my end and wanted to make sure it's ok for you.

      Thanks :)
