clean up wiring mess

Trying to get a 20 yr old class c updated. Most of the new stuff is electric, so I need more power. Problem is, the wiring coming off the battery is starting to become a real mess. Some of the stuff I did, some the previous owner did.

Any ideas on a better solution for 12vdc power. Someone installed a circuit breaker next to the battery for something, not sure what it goes for, maybe cb? anyways, cool idea, but I'm not totally thrilled about having two long uninsulated powered studs sticking out. I've got a power distribution bar, but no place to attach it. '98 ford E series. no room to put anything.

BLUE SEA has a bunch of 12VDC Marine quality terminals strips, distribution blocks, mini fuse panels and holders, and the such to clean up wiring things with... Check them out on AMAZON...

I like to see the battery connections to use the ring terminal lugs properly crimped on etc... Almost all of the DC meters and Switches and other 12VDC items all seem to use the ring terminal lugs...

  • It's been a while, but IIRC, there is a cable from that battery to a hot stud on the drivers side. That's where I would hook up.
  • pianotuna - the battery shown is the coach battery, the house uses (2) 6v batteries stored back in their own compartment

houseape / royb - I've got the terminal strip, just looking for a location to mount it so I don't have to take everything apart to get access. All the connectors are using crimp fittings and either that rubber tape or heat shrink.

Chris - I haven't found such a wire, I'm trying to establish one just need some mounting ideas. it's pretty crowded up there.

I had a similar problem with my boat. I was able to get everything I needed from Blue Sea. I installed a negative buss bar and went from there. Sort of a fun project to get it done right.

  • If you are ever in the Orlando area, at the Fairbanks exit from I4 is a place called Skycraft. It is a fabricators dream if you work with voltage related devices.
